Democrats all across the nation are shaking their heads in disbelief.

They’re wondering how one of their own, a Governor of a big blue state, could possibly have been caught wearing blackface standing next to a hooded Klansman.

And now the party, as well as the governor in question, are dealing with the consequences of misdeeds.

Virginia governor Ralph Northam is under the microscope. All because he appeared in blackface a number of years ago while at a party in medical school.

Whether or not the activity is defensible isn’t the question here. The question is will the Governor resign?

Democrats have vilified anyone who participates in blackface activities, and so if he doesn’t resign it will demonstrate that Democrats truly are a blustering wind.

Expected to Resign

Those in the Democratic Party in Virginia, as well as the former Governor of Virginia, believe that Gov. Ralph Northam will step down as a result of this catastrophic revelation.

Former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe said there’s no way he can continue serving as Governor… at least he can’t serve as Governor and not further tarnish the Democrat party’s image.

“Once that picture with the blackface and klansman came out there is no way you can continue to be the governor of the commonwealth of Virginia,” McAuliffe said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“Ralph is a good, moral, decent man. And may have made some mistakes in his past. We all have made mistakes. Ralph will do the right thing for the commonwealth of Virginia. He will put Virginia first. And I think that will happen relatively soon.”

McAuliffe is the former Democratic National Committee (DNC) chairman and is debating a run for President in 2020, so it’s likely he wants to Northam to step down so voters don’t have to maintain a low opinion of the Democrat party, or the state McAuliffe hails from.

The image in question features two men, one wearing blackface and another dressed in a Ku Klux Klan robe, standing next to one another.

It first appeared in Northam’s medical school yearbook from his time in Eastern Virginia Medical School.

The official story on who exactly is in the photo is unknown.

Northam’s Defense is Pathetic

Northam isn’t sure if it’s him in the photo or not.

Which begs the question, wouldn’t you remember something like that… wouldn’t you have a better defense than “I don’t think that’s me.”

But that’s what Northam is saying.

At first, Northam said he was in the photo. But then on Saturday the 2nd he backpedaled and claimed he’s not sure if that was him or not.

“When I was confronted with the images yesterday, I was appalled that they appeared on my page, but I believed then and now that I am not either of the people in that photo.”

McAuliffe and the rest of the nation aren’t buying it.

On CNN McAuliffe said “You know if you put black paint on your face… you know if you put a hood on. And so if it isn’t you, you come out with immediately and say this is not me.”

However, McAuliffe doesn’t seem to care if it was Northam or not.

At this point, he says the damage is done and Northam had better step down regardless of whether or not the accusations are true.
to resign in order to allow Virginia to move on.

“It doesn’t matter whether he was in the photo or not at this point… we have to close that chapter. We have to move Virginia forward. Justin Fairfax, African-American lieutenant governor, will do a great job of bringing folks back together.”

That’s exactly what you’d expect a Democrat to say. Who cares if you’re guilty or not, take one on the chin and fold even if the accusations aren’t true.
