This is escalating quickly.

First, Hillary lied about not being under FBI investigation.

Then news broke out that Hillary’s IT staffer for her private email server was granted immunity in exchange for testimony.

Now the next step in the possible criminal prosecution is set to take place.

The Los Angeles Times reports:

“Federal prosecutors investigating the possible mishandling of classified materials on Hillary Clinton’s private email server have begun the process of setting up formal interviews with some of her longtime and closest aides, according to two people familiar with the probe, an indication that the inquiry is moving into its final phases.

Those interviews and the final review of the case, however, could still take many weeks, all but guaranteeing that the investigation will continue to dog Clinton’s presidential campaign through most, if not all, of the remaining presidential primaries.

No dates have been set for questioning the advisors, but a federal prosecutor in recent weeks has called their lawyers to alert them that he would soon be doing so, the sources said. Prosecutors also are expected to seek an interview with Clinton herself, though the timing remains unclear.”

While the LA Times reports that these interviews represent the final phase of the investigation, it could take months before they take place.

A continuing probe into Hillary’s private server and mishandling of classified information could be a death by 1,000 swords during a Presidential campaign.

But losing the White House does not appear the area of greatest danger for Hillary.

While some legal experts believe she is not in danger of criminal prosecution, the rumblings out of the Justice Department tell a different story.

The American Spectator reports:

“One source told me that “the top floor of the FBI [the leadership] is deeply engaged in the investigation.” And another said the Bureau has “no choice” but to ask Attorney General Loretta Lynch for indictments. The FBI’s director James Comey has a reputation for being incorruptible. He wanted to indict General David Petraeus on far fewer charges than his investigators have come up with on Hillary. Now his chief of staff has reportedly said that the Bureau plans to seek indictments of Hillary and her aides despite the politics of the case. One source told me, “the Bureau doesn’t care about politics.” This case is seen as a national security matter.

FBI Director Comey’s sterling reputation will make it that much harder for the Obama regime to whitewash this case and allow Hillary and her aides to escape scot free.

With Director Comey overseeing the investigation, there is very little chance he would sign-off on any partisan hackery which would allow Hillary to continue her Presidential campaign should the evidence prove she broke the law.

In fact, the FBI is implementing a time-tested procedure used for bringing charges against a higher-up in a criminal case.

Cases are built based on evidence collected from lower-level subordinates and applying pressure to attain more evidence against the true target of the investigation.

Offering immunity to Hillary’s IT staffer on was step one in that process.

Step two is interviewing her aides at the State Department who were on the email chains carrying the classified information.

Will the final step be official charges against Hillary?
