Did Barack Obama spy on Donald Trump?

Democrats and the media insist this never happened.

But one admission blew the cover-up sky high, and revealed an ugly truth.

Evelyn Farkas was the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia in the Obama administration.

She appeared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe on March 2nd – two days before Trump tweeted that Obama was spying on him.

Farkas was reacting to a New York Times story that claimed the Obama administration was spreading intelligence about Russia – and also reports involving Trump associates – across the government.

Fox News reports:

In an appearance on MSNBC earlier this month, Farkas told Mika Brezinski about her role in the efforts to collect intelligence on Trump’s team, and their alleged ties with Russia, in the Obama administration’s final days.

“I was urging my former colleagues and, frankly speaking, the people on the Hill… get as much information as you can,” Farkas said, adding that her big fear was “if [Trump staffers] found out how we knew what we knew about their … the Trump staff dealing with Russians – that they would try to compromise those sources and methods, meaning we no longer have access to that intelligence.”

At the end of the interview, Farkas said, “we have good intelligence on Russia… that’s why you have the leaking. People are worried.”

While Farkas denied spying existed in an interview with the Daily Caller, her comments raise some troubling issues.

She resigned from government in 2015.

How did she know what the Obama administration knew about the Trump staff’s dealings with Russia?

And if the government knew about the Trump staff dealings with Russians, it strongly suggests that they were picked up in incidental surveillance and that those intercepts were spread around the government.

Passing around classified intelligence is a crime.

Republicans have consistently noted that the Obama administration broke the law when they leaked classified information about Trump and his team to reporters in order to damage the administration and hurt their ability to carry out their policy agenda.

Chief of Staff Reince Priebus responded to the bombshell admission on the Hugh Hewitt show.

Real Clear Politics reports the transcript of their conversation:

HH: “Now do you think Director Comey will be interested in that statement?”

RP: (laughing) “Well, I hope that the intelligence committees and agencies are interested in all of these things. And the one thing I will tell you is that we want, we want this thing done thoroughly, and I will tell you that because we have got nothing to hide. I mean, there’s just nothing there. I’ve said it many times on television and elsewhere. There is no collusion. The issues in regard to contacts with Russia as outlined in the New York Times article about a month ago is total garbage, and we just, we would rather this move forward and be thorough and get on with it, because we’ve got nothing to hide. It’s ridiculous.”

We will keep you up to date on this developing story.
