For years Barack Obama has protested when critics called him or his policies socialist.

He thundered in outrage when accused of harboring anti-American bias.

But during his visit to Cuba, Obama ripped off the mask and gave a full throttled defense of communism. He equated it to capitalism, claiming there were “interesting intellectual arguments” in favor of state controlled economies and ruling people’s lives.

The Washington Times reports:

“In in the past there’s been a sharp division between left and right, between capitalist and communist or socialist,” the president said Wednesday during a Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative town hall meeting in Buenos Aires. “And especially in the Americas, that’s been a big debate, right? Oh, you know, you’re a capitalist Yankee dog, and oh, you know, you’re some crazy communist that’s going to take away everybody’s property.

“And I mean, those are interesting intellectual arguments, but I think for your generation, you should be practical and just choose from what works. You don’t have to worry about whether it neatly fits into socialist theory or capitalist theory — you should just decide what works,” Mr. Obama continued. “And I said this to President Castro in Cuba. I said, look, you’ve made great progress in educating young people. Every child in Cuba gets a basic education — that’s a huge improvement from where it was. Medical care — the life expectancy of Cubans is equivalent to the United States, despite it being a very poor country, because they have access to health care. That’s a huge achievement. They should be congratulated.”

You can watch a video of the remarks below:

Radical leftists like Barack Obama love to brag about Cuba’s state-run health care system.

It’s the envy of their eye.

But, as is typical of communism, there is one system for elites and one for ordinary Cubans.

The average Cuban citizen struggles to find even common drugs like aspirin.

National Review reports on the methods the Cuban government uses to maintain their infant mortality rate – which was in the top 20 in the world before Castro and his communist revolutionaries seized power:

“You might suspect a story behind this respectability — and you are right. The regime is very keen on keeping infant mortality down, knowing that the world looks to this statistic as an indicator of the general health of a country. Cuban doctors are instructed to pay particular attention to prenatal and infant care. A woman’s pregnancy is closely monitored. (The regime manages to make the necessary equipment available.) And if there is any sign of abnormality, any reason for concern — the pregnancy is “interrupted.” That is the going euphemism for abortion. The abortion rate in Cuba is sky-high, perversely keeping the infant-mortality rate down.”

So Cuba truly is Obama’s paradise.

State-run health care.

Forced abortions.

None of these values reflect America’s ideals.

Yet Obama stooped so low as to associate a system of government – which resulted in the massacre of over 100 million people world-wide – with free enterprise capitalism – which has lifted people out of poverty and raised the standard of living in countries where a pair of shoes on your feet was once considered living well.

Even after the fall of the Soviet Empire and Iron Curtain, Barack Obama is still defending communism, saying “choose what works”.

But since the Soviet revolution of 1917, history has shown us what “what works” looks like; mass graves for the people slaughtered by power-crazed dictators in pursuit of state – and world domination.
