Senator John McCain remains a thorn in the side of President Trump and his administration, as he has been a very vocal opponent against the President’s policies.

Now, McCain is making a wild claim about terrorism, one that makes little sense considering the recent attacks that were carried out in Manchester, England.

McCain is claiming ISIS is not really a threat to the American people – as there is a much bigger threat on the horizon.

In a recent interview with ABC News, Republican Senator John McCain claimed the United States is in danger, but from a Russian source rather than a terrorist attack.

McCain believes the Russians are attempting to destroy the very concept of democracy, and he is even going so far as to accuse the country of hacking the French national election as well.

The Daily Caller reported:

Republican Senator John McCain said that Russia, not the Islamic State, is our greatest foreign threat in an interview with ABC News Monday.

“I think ISIS can do terrible things … but it’s the Russians who are trying, who tried to destroy the very fundamental of democracy and that is to change the outcome of an American election,” McCain said.

He then accused Russia of also trying to hack the French Presidential election.

However, The Blaze reported:

While McCain admitted there is no evidence the Kremlin was successful in changing the outcome of the U.S. presidential election, he asserted Russian officials have been interfering in elections, including the recent French vote.

Newly elected French President Emmanuel Macron slammed the state-run Russia Today and Sputnik, both of which he called “lying propaganda,” for spreading “serious untruths” during the French election, Time reported.

Putin, for his part, denied Moscow interfered in the election at all.

But McCain — much like Macron — remains unconvinced. The senator described Russia as “the far greatest challenge that we have.”

McCain then attempted to shift the focus of the interview to target Jared Kushner and his alleged ties to Russia.

McCain attempted to target Kushner, rather than discussing the real issue he initiated: the threat of ISIS.

McCain currently chairs the Senate Armed Forces Committee, making his claims all the more unbelievable.

While American ties to Russia are currently under investigation, there are certainly more significant issues to deal with, primarily when concerned with terrorist attacks.

Just recently, two dozen individuals lost their lives and dozens more were injured severely as a result of an Islamic State suicide bomber.

What do you think the biggest threat to the U.S. currently is?
