The Deep State has made no secret it wants Donald Trump gone.
Its operatives have fed the press illegal leaks to try and generate enough pressure from media created scandals to impeach Trump or force his resignation.
But Jeff Sessions just gave the Deep State leakers the worst news of their lives.
In testimony before the House Judiciary Committee, the Attorney General revealed there are 27 ongoing leak investigations.
The Daily Caller reported:
“Attorney General Jeff Sessions testified Tuesday that the Justice Department has 27 open investigations into leaks.
“We had about nine open investigations of classified leaks in the last three years,” Sessions said. “We have 27 investigations open today. We intend to get to the bottom of these leaks. I think it…has reached epidemic proportions. It cannot be allowed to continue and we will do our best effort to ensure it does not continue.”
President Donald Trump has been enraged about the amount of national security leaks during his administration. These leaks have included transcripts of his phone calls with foreign leaders. A July Senate report found that there were at least 125 news articles based on classified information during Trump’s first 126 days in office
The president previously attacked Sessions in a July tweet for a perceived weakness when it comes to leak investigations. “Attorney General Jeff Sessions has taken a VERY weak position on Hillary Clinton crimes (where are E-mails & DNC server) & Intel leakers!” Trump tweeted.
Shortly thereafter, Sessions held a press conference with Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats during which the attorney general declared, “this culture of leaking must stop.”
“For those out there who may be listening or watching these announcements understand this: if you improperly disclose classified information, we will find you,” DNI Coats said. “We will investigate you. We will prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law, and you will not be happy with the result.”
Illegal leaks of classified information fed the Russia collusion narrative.
And they all started just after Trump took office.
In February, the Deep State used illegal leaks to create the appearance National Security Advisor Michael Flynn was susceptible to Russian blackmail over routine conversations with the Russian Ambassador during the transition.
As the incoming National Security Advisor, it was wholly appropriate for Flynn to have talks with an official who would be considered having a position on the level of his own.
But the illegal leaks of conversations that were caught up in surveillance of the Russian Ambassador forced Flynn to resign.
Deep State leakers have also pushed misleading accounts of Trump’s conversations with foreign leaders in order to embarrass the President.
Conservatives have been demanding for months that the Department of Justice pick up the pace of leak investigations.
And now it appears that is happening and some Deep State operatives are about to wish they never leaked to the media.
We will keep you up to date on any new developments in this story.
