CNN has turned from a reliable news source to fluff media over the last few years.
The site frequently has to issue redactment statements and pull stories for errors they have made in their facts.
And CNN was recently caught making an enormous mistake in a major news story.
As the news broke of the Clintons’ involvement in the fated “Trump Dossier”, a CNN panel falsely blamed both the Republicans and Democrats for the dossier’s funding.
Wolf Blitzer, host of CNN’s “Situation Room”, falsely stated that it was a Republican who funded the dossier, with a second panelist backing this information.
But here are the real facts, as reported by The Daily Caller:
A Republican donor did pay Fusion GPS to conduct opposition research on Trump during the primary but the firm never commissioned the dossier to British ex-spy Christopher Steele until the Clinton campaign and DNC began paying Fusion — months after the Republican donor had left the picture.
Fact-checkers have rated it “false” that Republicans paid for the dossier.
Despite the facts, both Blitzer and Swerdick falsely informed viewers that Republicans had paid for the dossier. None of the other panelists corrected the false claim that a Republican donor paid for the dossier.
As CNN continues to butcher high-profile stories such as this, their ratings continue to fall, and their credibility is thrown out the window.
After President Trump took a personal stance against CNN and their fake news, CNN lost thousands of viewers and their ratings plummeted.
The Blaze reports:
The controversies come at a time when Trump’s rhetoric against the mainstream media is at an all-time high. CNN, which Trump referred to as “garbage journalism” last weekend, is the most common target of Trump’s anti-media outrage.
And now, it appears CNN’s ratings are really beginning to reflect the controversies.
While Fox News and MSNBC continue to dominate cable news ratings, CNN last week dropped to 13th in the overall cable ratings competition, according to TVNewser. The ratings were average primetime ratings captured between June 26 and July 2.
Fox News dominated with an average of more than 1.8 million viewers, while MSNBC trailed with 1.34 million viewers. CNN, on the other hand, only averaged a mere 711,000 viewers.
Liberal organizations like CNN and the NFL continue to wage war on conservative values, but are clearly paying the price.
Will CNN get away with this major blunder in the dossier story?
