The people never expected such a message from Obama.

But what he said shocked them more.

Now, Barack Obama supported violent protests with these eight shocking words.

Former President Barack Obama spoke on behalf of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden at a drive-in rally in Orlando, Florida this Tuesday.

In his address, he offered his support of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as well as a strong defense of the BLM movement.

He stated:

“But Joe and Kamala, they care deeply about people, America, and they care about our democracy. They understand that protest is not un-American. This country was founded on protesting against injustice.”

He continued, praising Americans of “all races” for “joining together to declare — in the face of injustice and brutality at the hands of the state — that Black Lives Matter, no more, but no less. So that no child in this country should feel the continuing sting of racism. We can’t just dream for a better future. We gotta fight for a better future.”

Unfortunately, these protests have been characterized by extreme violence and destruction.

Beginning in May after the death of George Floyd, BLM began rioting in cities across America beginning with Minneapolis.

Their message soon became looting, burning, and terror across American cities as the path to political power.

Cities across America experienced untold destruction of property, extreme rates of crime, and a continuing cry to tear down the entire system.

People awoke to their businesses destroyed and their homes on fire.

This is not the legacy that BLM should have had, nor is it one that will bring about lasting change.

If policies change in the face of fear, they will change back once the danger has passed.

Obama offered his support of these violent riots, shocking Americans everywhere.

However, the core of his message is correct.

Violence in the streets will bring about change, but it will create a society of fear and mob rule.

The mob will target anyone that disagrees with them for violence unless leaders stand up and say enough.

Fighting for a better future should not involve levelling cities and homes to the ground.

It should not involve murder on either side.

Obama spoke to the part inside all Americans that should seek to better our country because we live in it.

Striving to create a better world for those who come after should be our focus, but it should not be done through violence.

MLK said it best:

“As you press on for justice, be sure to move with dignity and discipline, using only the weapon of love. Let no man pull you so low as to hate him. Always avoid violence. If you succumb to the temptation of using violence in your struggle, unborn generations will be the recipients of a long and desolate night of bitterness, and your chief legacy to the future will be an endless reign of meaningless chaos.”
