One of the big mysteries of the 2020 Democrat presidential primary was why former President Barack Obama did not endorse Joe Biden until Biden clinched the nomination.
Americans now have their answer and it is bad news for Biden.
Barack Obama just let people know what he really thinks about Joe Biden.
Joe Biden falsely claimed at the outset of his campaign that he asked Barack Obama not to endorse him because Biden wanted to win the nomination on his own merit.
Now that Biden will formally accept the Democrat Party nomination for President, the true story of what Obama really thinks about Biden is coming out.
And it’s not a pretty picture.
A POLITICO story revealed that while Biden was Vice President, Obama’s aides mocked Biden behind his back and that Obama looked down on Biden’s political skills.
When Obama’s second term was winding down, Obama went so far as to caution Biden against seeking the 2016 Democrat nomination.
POLITICO exclusively reported:
On January 5, 2015, Biden and Obama privately discussed a White House run at their weekly lunch. Obama “had been subtly weighing in against,” Biden recalled in Promise Me, Dad, his 2017 book.
“I also believe he had concluded that Hillary Clinton was almost certain to be the nominee, which was good by him,” Biden wrote.
As Hillary Clinton moved toward announcing her candidacy, top Obama allies all moved to her campaign instead of rallying to Vice President Biden, a move that Biden acknowledged never would have taken place unless Obama did not believe Biden was a worthy successor.
POLITICO also reported that “Obama tried to remain above the fray, even as his closest staffers largely rallied around Clinton—which they likely would not have done if there was a chance he would support Biden. ‘I knew a number of the president’s former staffers, and even a few current ones, were putting a finger on the scale for Clinton,’ Biden wrote.”
Even as Biden campaigned for the 2020 nomination, quotes leaked out expressing Obama’s doubts that Biden could pull off a victory.
“Yet searing, anonymously sourced quotes from Obama kept appearing through the race. One Democrat who spoke to Obama recalled the former president warning, ‘Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f*ck things up.’ Speaking of his own waning understanding of today’s Democratic electorate, especially in Iowa, Obama told one 2020 candidate: ‘And you know who really doesn’t have it? Joe Biden,’” POLITICO also reported.
Finally, it did not slip past Biden and aides that Obama effusively praised Hillary Clinton as historically qualified to serve as President when Obama endorsed her compared to the perfunctory backing Obama gave Biden.
POLITICO reported, “’I don’t think there’s ever been someone so qualified to hold this office,’ he said of Clinton in his video message in 2016. Four years later, in his endorsement video for Biden, he said: ‘I believe Joe has all of the qualities we need in a president right now … and I know he will surround himself with good people.’”
It’s clear that Barack Obama has the same view of Joe Biden as most Democrat voters – namely that Biden is just a warm body and a name on the ballot.
Hating Donald Trump and defeating him fuels the Democrat Party in 2020 and they don’t care if their candidate is a senile incompetent.
