Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death shocked the nation and shook up the Presidential Election.
Now, Democrats’ worst fears may be about to come true.
And in response, Barack Obama hit Trump with this ultimatum about replacing Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away at the age of 87 after a long battle with cancer.
Because this is an election year, the focus immediately turned to the fight over replacing her on the Supreme Court.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell made it clear that the Republican Senate majority will hold a vote on President Trump’s nominee.
Barack Obama responded by threatening Trump and the Republicans that any confirmation would lead to an illegitimate Supreme Court justice.
“A basic principle of the law — and of everyday fairness — is that we apply rules with consistency, and not based on what’s convenient or advantageous in the moment. The rule of law, the legitimacy of our courts, the fundamental workings of our democracy all depend on that basic principle,” Obama wrote.
Obama added that the vote on any Supreme Court nominee should come after the election.
“As votes are already being cast in this election, Republican Senators are now called to apply that standard. The questions before the Court now and in the coming years — with decisions that will determine whether or not our economy is fair, our society is just, women are treated equally, our planet survives, and our democracy endures — are too consequential to future generations for courts to be filled through anything less than an unimpeachable process,” Obama ranted and raved.
But four years ago Barack Obama sang a different tune.
Conservative Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia tragically and suddenly passed away in February 2016 and Obama nominated Merrick Garland to take his place.
Republicans – led by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell – blocked a vote on Garland’s nomination because they expressed the belief that since Obama was a lame duck President from the opposite party, the American people should decide who picked Scalia’s replacement.
Obama bashed the Republicans and even pushed for a confirmation vote on Garland in the fall of 2016 with the election right around the corner.

The run up to the election will see more fake news media lying, hypocrisy and shamelessness than in the entirety of Donald Trump’s presidency up until this point.
Democrats and the fake news media see the election, future direction of the Supreme Court and the fate of Roe v. Wade all hanging in the balance.
And they will tell any lie, threaten to riot or try to frighten Republicans with dire rule changes should they take power to scare Donald Trump and Senate Republicans from confirming a replacement for Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
