Ever since Congressional Democrats bombed on Election Day, Nancy Pelosi’s future has been a subject of debate.
Instead of a “blue wave,” Democrats lost seats and the finger-pointing immediately began.
And you won’t believe who Barack Obama said should replace Nancy Pelosi.
Heading into the election, Nancy Pelosi boasted that Democrats could flip as many as 15 to 20 Republican seats and hold a commanding majority in 2021.
Pelosi contended that Democrats would win the Senate and Joe Biden would oust President Trump in a “blue wave” election.
But the “blue wave” never came to be as Republicans will hold at least 50 Senate seats, flipped the New Hampshire State House and cut the Democrats’ majority to their party’s slimmest number since the 1940s.
Barack Obama knew who to blame.
In an interview with Snapchat, Obama pointed the finger at Speaker Pelosi claiming Democrats let people stay in power for too long.
“Now one thing I will say about the Democratic Party, promoting young people is really important,” Obama stated. “We stick so long with the same old folks and don’t make room for new voices.”
Obama then ripped Democrats for not giving enough speaking time to Pelosi rival Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez during the Democratic National Convention this past August.
“The fact that AOC only got, what? Three minutes or five minutes? When she speaks to a broad section of young people who are interested in what she has to say, even if they don’t agree with everything she says,” Obama continued. “New blood is always good.”
The 80-year-old Pelosi has been the Democrats’ leader in the House since 2002.
In that time she presided over some of the worst losses in Democrat Party history.
But Obama knows Democrats could lose the House in 2022 and at that point Pelosi will likely retire.
That would make Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez—because or her large social media following, fundraising prowess and connection with the Democrat base—one of the main power centers in the Democrat Party.
Acknowledging this reality, Obama went so far as to even gloss over criticisms of socialism—which many Democrats blamed for their losses in the House—and claim it was just a disagreement over what labels Democrats wanted to affix to themselves.
“Socialism is still a loaded term for a lot of folks,” Obama added. “Once again, instead of talking labels and ideology, we should focus on talking about getting certain things done.”
Barack Obama understands which way the wind is blowing in his party.
Despite Joe Biden winning the nomination the energy on the left is with the socialists like Ocasio-Cortez.
So when Obama offered up his election postmortem, Obama made sure to cast blame with Pelosi instead of Ocasio-Cortez.
