William Barr

The coronavirus outbreak is stretching America to the breaking point.

Donald Trump and his administration are cracking down on bad actors looking to exploit the situation for their own gain.

And now William Barr issued this coronavirus ultimatum that had these top Democrats worried about jail.

At a recent coronavirus task force press briefing, Attorney General Barr appeared to announce the administration’s intention to crack down on individuals or entities hoarding vital medical supplies or engaging in price gouging.

“Once specific materials are so designated, persons are prohibited from accumulating those items in excess of reasonable personal or business needs or for the purpose of selling them in excess of prevailing market prices,” Barr announced.

“We’re talking about people hoarding these goods and materials on an industrial scale for the purposes of manipulating the market and ultimately driving windfall profits,” Barr explained. “If you have a big supply of toilet paper in your house, this is not something you have to worry about. But, if you are sitting on a warehouse with masks, surgical masks, you will be hearing a knock on your door.”

Within 48 hours of Barr’s announcement, the Service Employees International Union discovered a supply of 39 million critical N95 respirator masks and donated them to hospitals around the country.

The SEIU wrote:

The Service Employees International Union – United Healthcare Workers West (SEIU-UHW) has located 39 million critically needed N95 masks and is connecting states, counties, health systems and individual hospitals to the supplier so they can purchase them in quantity.

The 3M™ N95 masks (model 1860) are cleared for use as surgical masks and are approved by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The union launched an exhaustive search for masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE) five days ago in response to pleas from frontline healthcare workers that they need more protection and feel unsafe on the job as they treat the growing number of COVID-19 patients. SEIU-UHW has 97,000 members who work in hospitals across California.

Within 48 hours of painstakingly calling leads and potential suppliers, the union discovered a distributor who had the 39 million masks, and has since found another supplier who says his company can produce 20 million more masks a week. The union also has found a supplier who can deliver millions of face shields.

Since 1990, the SEIU has pumped nearly $232,694,670 into elections and 99 percent of that money filled the campaign war chests of Democrats.

Government unions are the biggest and nastiest players on the field of American politics.

Some critics of big labor questioned the timing of the SEIU’s donation.

39 million masks are not an item you just uncover in a rarely used storage closet.

Some Americans are wondering why the SEIU did not step forward and donate this critical supply of equipment until after Attorney General Barr’s announcement that the Trump administration would target medical equipment hoarders.
