Never forget, that several years ago, the Democrats who were in control of Congress said they would vote to help keep America secure…
More than a decade ago, many of the same Democrats who are in Congress now approved funding to help keep the American public safe from illegal immigrants.
But now that Trump has chosen to die on this hill… his “Wall Hill,” they refuse to give him more than a pittance of 1.3 billion dollars.
For more than two weeks now, the President and the Democrats have been at odds.
The result?
A government shutdown that has left thousands of Federal workers working without pay.
All the while the Democrats try and paint him a miser while they, in fact, are the ones keeping people in chains.
Trump Has the Right Motivation
Trump has the right motivation to get the Wall built. He knows the danger presented by illegal immigrants. How their presence isn’t just in violation of the American rule of law… but often results in the deaths of innocents.
And while he refuses to budge on the issue, the Democrats are trying to twist the situation and make it look like he’s too stupid to reopen the government.
After spending much of the day in discussions with the President, Democrat congresswoman Nancy Pelosi said, “We are asking the president to open up the government,… We are giving him a Republican path to do that. Why would he not do it?”
And now that the Democrats, who will take control over the house on Thursday, January 3rd, are in a position of power they will flex and make it near impossible for the President to fulfill his campaign promise.
Make no mistake.
This is political grandstanding at its best.
Back in 2006 and in 2013 the Democrats approved the release of vast sums of monies to fund anti-immigration packages.
Democrats Approved $8 Billion For Wall In 2013
Even though they don’t like to admit it, the Democrats did approved $8 billion towards a wall or a fence back in 2013.
Trump noted that in a tweet where he said “Virtually every Democrat we are dealing with today strongly supported a Border Wall or Fence…It was only when I made it an important part of my campaign because people and drugs were pouring into our Country unchecked, that they turned against it. Desperately needed!”
In 2013 an immigration plan approved Democratic support in the Senate (though it didn’t become law) that would have devoted a total of $46 billion to border security.
$8 billion of that would have gone to a wall or a fence.
Even the liberal rag the Washington Post will admit that much.
But when Trump asks for a little more than $5 billion, they shut him down.
And while Pelosi and her ilk want to make it appear like they’re playing ball with the President, they’re reneging on their commitment to keeping America safe.
