Tucker Carlson is one of the most popular hosts on Fox News.

That makes him one of the biggest targets in the conservative movement.

And now Carlson’s enemies just unearthed a secret audio tape that could get Carlson kicked off the air.

The far-left activist group Media Matters targets Fox News hosts for destruction by trying to organize sponsor boycotts.

If they can pressure advertisers to drop Fox News primetime shows then they can choke off their profits and force Fox News to put liberal or anti-Trump hosts on the air.

The left successfully chased Bill O’Reilly off the channel using these tactics.

And now Media Matters is gunning for Tucker Carlson.

The group released audio of ancient appearances by Tucker Carlson on the shock-jock “Bubba the Love Sponge” show from 2006 to 2011.

During his guest spots, Carlson made provocative comments that the left is using to smear him as misogynistic and pro-child abuse.

“I am not defending underage marriage at all — I just don’t think it’s the same thing exactly as pulling a child from a bus stop and sexually assaulting that child… The rapist, in this case, has made a lifelong commitment to live and take care of the person, so it is a little different. I mean, let’s be honest about it,” Carlson said in one 2009 appearance on the show.

This is all fake news and sensationalized to pressure Carlson’s sponsors to drop him so Fox News takes him off the air.

Carlson’s reaction stunned the left.

Instead of groveling for forgiveness – which would only incite the online outrage mob because they would smell blood in the water – Carlson refused to back down.

“Media Matters caught me saying something naughty on a radio show more than a decade ago,” Carlson began in a statement posted to Twitter.

“Rather than express the usual ritual contrition, how about this: I’m on television every weeknight live for an hour,” the Fox News host continued. “If you want to know what I think, you can watch. Anyone who disagrees with my views is welcome to come on and explain why,” Carlson concluded.

The hit on Carlson did not occur in a vacuum.

Media Matters released this audio on the heels of fake news “reporter” Jane Mayer’s hit piece on Fox News.

Mayer – whose reputation as a “journalist” is in the gutter after her attempts to use what critics claimed were hoax allegations of sexual misconduct against Brett Kavanaugh to derail his nomination – made many questionable claims to paint Fox News as “state run TV.”

For instance, she falsely claimed that Fox News spiked a story about Stormy Daniels in the fall of 2016 because the editor involved said Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch wanted Donald Trump to win the election.

The Mayer piece and the attack on Tucker Carlson are meant to look unrelated but they are really two prongs of the same strategy.

Democrats hate that Fox News provides an alternative to all the fake news in the mainstream media so their allies in the press are trying to create a public pressure campaign to force Fox News to adapt the left’s coverage by forcing their conservative opinion hosts off the air and daring them to prove they aren’t “state run TV” by mimicking CNN’s anti-Trump hatred.
