A Democrat holding a key position of power just announced her plans to destroy President Trump in 2019.

She hopes to bring charges against Trump and those close to him.

And she’s enlisted the help of former Obama Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

Incoming New York Attorney General Letitia James has revealed her top priority will be investigating President Trump and “anyone” close to him when she takes office in January.

The Democrat announced this month that her office will immediately begin investigating his businesses and try to tie him to collusion with the Russians in the 2016 election.

In an interview with NBC News, James said, “We will use every area of the law to investigate President Trump and his business transactions and that of his family as well.”

“We want to investigate anyone in his orbit who has, in fact, violated the law,” she added.

James’ investigation is expected to include all of President Trump’s real estate holdings, as well as the activities of his business partners and family members.

The incoming New York Attorney General also plans to investigate Trump’s financial dealings, government contracts, and the Trump Foundation for alleged wrongdoings during the 2016 election.

James intends to continue former New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s (D) investigation of Trump University and Trump Foundation as well.

Schneiderman sued both for alleged illegal business practices before resigning in May 2018 after allegations emerged that he had abused multiple women.

Aside from legal investigations, the New York Democrat also wants to go after President Trump through state legislation.

During the 2018 election, James campaigned on changing New York’s double-jeopardy laws.

She believes changing these laws would give her the legal ability to bring charges against President Trump or anyone he’s pardoned.

James expects that within the first 100 days of taking office, the New York state legislature will pass a law allowing her to do just that.

She has called this legislation a “priority”, adding, “This administration might pardon some individuals who might face some criminal charges, but I do not want them to be immune from state charges.”

With less than a month before she takes office, James has been busy not just planning her legal assault against Trump, but also her transition into New York’s highest law enforcement office.

And she’s brought on former Obama Attorney General Loretta Lynch as part of her transition team—the same Loretta Lynch who held the infamous “tarmac meeting” with Bill Clinton at the height of Hillary Clinton’s email investigation.

Lynch is anticipated to be crucial in helping James go after President Trump’s administration and businesses.

The incoming New York Attorney General also expects Special Counsel Robert Mueller to finish his investigation soon and hopes her legal attacks on Trump at the state level will complement Mueller’s probe in D.C.

According to James, Mueller is “doing an excellent job”.

She also added, “I think he’s closing in on this president, and his days are going to be coming to an end shortly.”

Questions remain whether or not a state attorney general can bring charges against a sitting President or anyone who has received a Presidential pardon.

It’s also unclear if James’ proposed legislation would apply to any actions after President Trump had taken office.
