Democrats have been eyeing ways to remove Trump from office since before he even became President.

But their biggest plan to topple Trump just collapsed.

And now Democrats in Congress are in a panic like never before.

It’s no secret that Democrats hate President Trump.

After knocking off their coronate successor to Barack Obama, Trump upended eight years of Democratic work to remake America into a socialist utopia.

And to make matter worse for the left, Trump not only took the country in the opposite direction they were planning, but he’s since worked to erase much of President Obama’s legacy as well.

After two years of this, Democrats have had enough.

And they began to work on concrete plans to remove him from office.

The most obvious avenue was impeachment.

And Democrats were working on doing just that.

But in the wake of Michael Cohen’s testimony to Congress, plans to impeach the President have utterly collapsed.

NBC news reports, “Leading congressional Democrats were still largely steering clear of impeachment chatter a day after President Trump’s former attorney and fixer, Michael Cohen, alleged in public testimony that Trump had violated campaign finance laws and lied to the American public.”

As a liberal outlet, it’s not a shock to see NBC reporting this news in such a biased light, and Michael Cohen is a convicted felon who is going to prison in part because he lied to Congress before, making his testimony questionable at best.

But the point is pretty clear, that Democrats are backing away from impeachment proceedings.

And without the party leadership on board with the move to out Trump as President, plans to impeach him have effectively been shelved.

The result has been utter chaos within the Democratic Party as liberal members clash with more pragmatic and moderate Democrats who care more about holding control of the House chamber in 2020 than pushing for impeachment.

“I’m not going into that, I’m not going into that,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

The fact that Nancy Pelosi is backing off of impeachment proceedings against the President is devastating to Democrats.

The more radical members of the Democratic caucus, led by Freshmen Democrats such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, are utterly livid that the party hasn’t already pushed through impeachment charges.

And yet Democrats know by and large that the votes to impeach and remove President Trump from office simply are not there.

This has left Democrats at a crossroads.

Either they go ahead and push for impeachment now, a proposition that seems increasingly unlikely in the wake of Cohen’s disastrous testimony which did little to further Democrats’ PR campaign against Republicans, or they hold off on impeachment, which could divide the party in a big way.

And holding off on impeachment could be the catalyst to trigger a Democratic civil war heading into the 2020 elections.

With no clear path ahead, Democrats remain more divided than at any point in the Trump presidency.

And that’s good news for President Trump and Republicans heading into the 2020 elections.
