The Republican establishment hates Trump.

Even though he is President, #NeverTrump Republicans are always searching for ways to force him from office.

And one Republican Senator just made a disturbing prediction about Trump and the next election.

Susan Collins of Maine is one of the diehard #NeverTrumpers in the Senate.

She withdrew her support during the campaign and did her part to try and elect Hillary Clinton.

Once Trump won, she became a fierce opponent of his agenda.

Collins voted against Trump nominees and was one of three Republicans to cast “no” votes that killed the repeal and replace of Obamacare.

Now – after doing all she can to try and destroy Trump’s Presidency through sabotage – she is predicting Trump may not even run for President in 2020.

Politico reports:

“Though President Donald Trump has already ramped up efforts for a 2020 reelection campaign, one of his frequent critics, Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), says it’s unclear whether he will be the GOP nominee.

“It’s too difficult to say,” Collins said in an interview with MSNBC on Monday when asked whether she thinks Trump will be the Republican Party’s nominee.

Collins did not support Trump in 2016; instead, she wrote in the name of House Speaker Paul Ryan.

“That was very hard for me to do as a life-long Republican,” Collins said.

Collins is one of a slew of critics Trump has in the GOP-controlled Senate. She casted one of the three key votes that sank Republicans’ seven-year effort to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.”

Establishment Republicans like Collins would love to see Trump gone.

It would allow them to go back to fighting for amnesty and global trade deals.

Republican elites are desperate to seize control of the party back from Trump and the grassroots supporters that elected him.

GOP voters rejected the establishment consensus on trade, war, and immigration that had defined the Republican Party since George H.W. Bush’s administration.

Almost all of the 16 other GOP candidates ran on some form of conventional Republicanism in 2016 and the party’s base rejected their platforms.

They turned to Trump because they were sick of globalist Republicans fighting for open borders, trade deals, and foreign wars that destroyed their standard of living and sapped American strength.

Rather than accept defeat, establishment Republicans have worked to make Trump a failure.

Not only have they fought Trump’s legislative agenda – Congress has dragged their feet on funding the wall in addition to failing to repeal Obamacare – they are actively defending and supporting Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia witch hunt.

Experts believe many Republicans hope Mueller will also conjure up something they can use to impeach Trump and remove him from office.

The opinion Collins expressed – that she isn’t sure if Trump will run in 2020 – is more than just speculation.

It is the hope of the GOP establishment.
