Donald Trump wants to stop the migrant caravan and all forms of illegal immigration.
Paul Ryan and other pro-amnesty RINOs have fought him at every turn.
But Ryan made the last mistake he’ll ever make after he stabbed Trump in the back in stopping the migrant invasion.
Paul Ryan Feuds With Trump Over Ending Birthright Citizenship
Paul Ryan never was a Trump supporter.
That’s because Ryan is a pro-amnesty, pro-open borders globalist.
Ryan has devoted his career to rewarding his donors with a flood of cheap foreign labor to depress the wages of American workers.
At the same time, Ryan tried to fool voters into thinking he was a conservative.
And now that he’s in his final days as Speaker of the House, he’s waging war on Trump’s immigration agenda.
Ryan reacted in horror when Trump announced he would end birthright citizenship through executive order.
“As a conservative, I’m a believer in following the plain text of the Constitution and I think in this case the 14th Amendment is pretty clear,” Paul Ryan declared in an interview with a local Kentucky radio station.
Ryan also declared, “you cannot end birthright citizenship with an executive order.”
Trump fired back at Ryan.
The President noted Ryan should be trying to help Republicans hang onto their majority.
Paul Ryan should be focusing on holding the Majority rather than giving his opinions on Birthright Citizenship, something he knows nothing about! Our new Republican Majority will work on this, Closing the Immigration Loopholes and Securing our Border!
Paul Ryan Helps Elected Democrats
Ryan fighting with Trump over immigration will depress the Republican vote.
One reason Democrats are favored to take back the House is because Ryan and other establishment Republicans fought the President on immigration instead of helping him pass his agenda.
Congress never passed funding for the wall.
And Ryan never pushed to pass Trump’s America First immigration reforms.
His decision cost Republicans.
Had Ryan fought for Trump’s agenda, GOP voters would be more fired up to vote.
There would be no enthusiasm gap.
Instead, many rank-and-file Republicans think there is no point in voting for GOP candidates who sabotage the President instead of working with him to crack down on immigration.
Trump’s Order Is Lawful
Pro-open borders globalists like Ryan and many in the media immediately claimed Trump could not change birthright citizenship with an executive order.
Trump is not changing birthright citizenship.
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services controls granting of citizenship.
That is an executive branch agency.
Trump is well within his right to change how executive branch agencies carry out their duties.
In addition, the politicians who drafted the 14th amendment never intended birthright citizenship to apply to aliens.
In 1884, the Supreme Court Justice Horace Gray held in the Elk v. Wilkins case that the phase, “subject to the jurisdiction of” in the 14th amendment meant, “not merely subject in some respect or degree to the jurisdiction of the United States, but completely subject to their political jurisdiction and owing them direct and immediate allegiance.”
Gray used an 1873 opinion by Attorney General George Henry Williams to guide his decision.
Williams had written, “The word ‘jurisdiction’ must be understood to mean absolute and complete jurisdiction, such as the United States had over its citizens before the adoption of this amendment. Aliens, among whom are persons born here and naturalized abroad, dwelling or being in this country, are subject to the jurisdiction of the United States only to a limited extent. Political and military rights and duties do not pertain to them.”
One reason these issues turn into political firestorms for Trump is because pro-amnesty Republicans like Ryan refuse to accept the fact that conservative voters rejected their open borders agenda.
If they got on board with Trump’s America First immigration agenda, there would fewer media-generated controversies and the Republican Party would be on stronger political footing.
