The Democrats plan to impeach Donald Trump is heading toward its end game.
Anti-Trump forces are putting the pieces in place to remove the President from office.
But then Nancy Pelosi stopped everyone dead in their tracks by telling one truth about impeachment.
Speaker Pelosi appeared at a Cornell University’s Institute of Politics and Global Affairs event in New York City.
Naturally, the subject of impeachment came up.
But Pelosi did not embrace the idea.
Instead, she warned that impeachment would be a political disaster for the Democrats.
“Trump is goading us to impeach him,” Pelosi stated.
“That’s what he’s doing. Every single day, he’s just like taunting, taunting, taunting because he knows that it would be very divisive in the country, but he doesn’t really care. He just wants to solidify his base.”
Pelosi went on to cover her bases with the left by claiming that Trump commits impeachable offenses every day, but trying to impeach Trump along party lines only plays into his hands.
“Every day, he’s obstructing justice by saying this one shouldn’t testify and that one shouldn’t testify and the rest. So he’s making the case, but he’s just trying to goad us into impeachment. And wherever you go, I say to my colleagues, whatever it is, be ready. And whatever it is, we’ll be ready.”
Pelosi was asked about the Democrats strategy to investigate President Trump on every front.
Pelosi explained that it was not some willy-nilly scheme to investigate the President just for the fun of it.
Speaker Pelosi explained that Democrats were planning on using multiple fields of fire to build an airtight case for impeachment which the American people would have to accept.
“One thing leads to another,” Pelosi added. “One hearing leads to another, where they don’t tell the truth … and that might take us to a place. We have to have more, I believe we have to have more information. But our impeachment power is a justification for our getting that other information.”
In normal investigations, there is first an accusation of a crime and then investigators gather evidence to prove their charges.
However in this case, the Democrats are working from the starting point of President Trump must be guilty – and then using investigations to find evidence of a crime.
It is a complete perversion of the American justice system.
And it is closer to the Red Queen in Alice in Wonderland who declared the sentence first, then ruled guilty or innocent later.
But even though Pelosi said it was war on every front with Donald Trump, political observers were most interested in the fact that she seemed to take every chance to throw cold water on all talk of impeachment.
Pelosi’s members – led by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – are pushing for impeachment and don’t yet realize that their leadership has no intention of following through.
And that could lead to a Democrat Party civil war – the likes of which no one has seen in over a generation.
