Donald Trump and his campaign team are putting together a plan to win in 2020.
But the President just got thrown a curveball.
And Mike Pence got some news about being thrown off the ballot that left him speechless.
Every time a President runs for re-election, there are always rumors about making a change with the Vice President.
This speculation never amounts to anything because there is almost no benefit to dumping a Vice President and replacing them on the ticket.
It shows panic on their part.
The last time that happened was 1876 when President Gerald Ford jettisoned Vice President Nelson Rockefeller and replaced him with Kansas Senator Bob Dole.
But President Ford’s gamble backfired and he lost to Jimmy Carter.
This has not stopped pundits from wondering if Donald Trump would swap out Vice President Pence for another candidate.
All the so-called “experts” point to utterly meaningless hypothetical matchup polls between President Trump and Biden that show Biden leading Trump as evidence the President needs to shake things up.
The most commonly discussed replacement is former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley.
Trump supporters believe this would be a bad move.
Haley is a RINO Republican that supports the Democrats’ open border position.
During the 2016 campaign, Haley did not attack President Obama in her response to the State of the Union.
Instead, Haley smeared President Trump as angry.
However, that has not stopped the media feeding frenzy surrounding Pence’s status on the ticket.
Yahoo News reported that there was tension between the Vice President’s team and the President’s staff.
And they claimed President Trump’s family members clashed with Pence’s staffers and that could lead to a change.
Yahoo exclusively reported:
But the relationship between their political teams has soured greatly in the past year, according to a dozen Trump and Pence aides and Republican advisers familiar with the dynamic. In particular, rumors that Kushner and Ivanka Trump wanted to consider replacements for Pence — specifically trying to find a woman running mate to help win back the suburbs in 2020 — have worried the vice president’s camp, according to Trump and Pence campaign advisers who spoke on background for this story.
Vice President Pence’s presence on the ticket in 2016 was invaluable.
President Trump selecting Pence sent a signal to Evangelical voters that the President cared about their issues such as promoting pro-life legislation, appointing conservative justices and defending religious liberty.
Trump received record Evangelical support in 2016, and dumping Pence could put a slice of that vote in jeopardy.
Nikki Haley is not known as a social conservative and given her support for open borders and other aspects of the Democrat Party agenda, few Evangelicals count Haley as a champion of their issues.
The strong likelihood is that Vice President Pence will remain on the ticket.
But given the fact that the fake news media loves to create drama and tension surrounding President Trump’s re-election campaign, this story will not die until Pence is officially re-nominated at the convention.
