The Democrats truly believe they’ve got Trump on a rope. As the Mueller investigation drags on they’re doing all they can to add fuel to dwindling fire in the hopes it’ll eventually lead to an impeachment of the President.
For 2 years now the President has maintained his innocence.
And while those close to the President have fallen, it doesn’t seem to phase him in the least. Trump believes and so do many close to him he’s surrounded by some of the best people in the world as well as some of the worst.
Which is why Trump continues to defy the Democrats, taunt them, and tell them their plans are going to backfire splendidly.
The Democrats Are Pushing Too Hard
Those close to the President (along with Trump himself) who know the full scope of what’s going on say the specter of these intense investigations is going to end up pushing Trump and his associates too hard and too far and the American people are going to see this.
They theorize Once the people who support Trump (and even those who don’t) realize that these investigations are based on nothing it’s going to make the Democrats look terrible and will embolden Trump further and give him support in ways the Democrats couldn’t have ever dreamed of.
Niall Stanage writes:
“David Bossie, Trump’s deputy campaign manager in 2016 and someone who remains well-connected in his orbit, said the recent decision by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) to seek documents from 81 people and entities showed “they are going to do exactly what the left wants them to do — attack the president at every turn.”
Bossie also predicted that “if the Democrats overreach, the American people are going to see that. They’re very smart. There will be a boomerang.”
The president has said as much too.
He said this Presidential witch hunt must stop before it undermines the sanctity of our government.
There’s Still Support For These Investigations
The truth of the matter is most Americans support the investigations at present. A recent poll by Quinnipiac suggested as many as 54% of Americans support Mueller investigations. Conversely, only 27% believe the President is unfairly targeted.
This is why Bossie and Trump contend if more investigations come about (or the current ones are continued) and people realize there’s nothing to be found those numbers could flip flop.
But the Hill argues most Americans simply believe the Democrats are simply holding the President accountable.
“Many voters will see the Democrats as making a long-overdue effort to hold Trump to account, they say — an effort that was absent during the first two years of his presidency when Republicans held the majority in both chambers of Congress.
“They are definitely not overreaching. They are doing their constitutional duty,” said Allan Lichtman, a professor of history at American University who is also the author of a book making the case for Trump’s impeachment.”
What do you think? Will these investigations end up backfiring?
