When James Mattis announce he was resigning at the end of the year, Washington went crazy.

Mattis’ resignation was supposed to be yet another scandal in the Trump White House for the left and the mainstream media to harp on.

But President Trump’s shocking reply to Mattis’ resignation has left the D.C. Swamp silent.

James Mattis had served as one of the most high-profile members inside of President Trump’s White House.

Mattis had been one of Trump’s closest cabinet members, serving alongside him since the President’s first day in office.

However, Mattis also disagreed with President Trump on some aspects of American foreign policy.

Mattis has a more hawkish approach to foreign policy, while President Trump’s America First approach often clashed with the former General.

These disagreements eventually resulted in the Secretary of Defense’s decision to resign next year.

In his resignation letter, Mattis writes, “You have a right to have a Secretary of Defense whose views are better aligned with yours.”

The mainstream media went crazy when this letter made its way to the press.

Mattis’ letter was supposed to suggest that President Trump’s White House was in disarray, and that his administration was in chaos.

However, President Trump stunned the mainstream media and all of Washington in his response to Mattis’ resignation.

The President tweeted  “General Jim Mattis will be retiring, with distinction.”

President Trump also tweeted that, “General Mattis was a great help to me in getting allies and other countries to pay their share of military obligations. A new Secretary of Defense will be named shortly. I greatly thank Jim for his service!”

Trump’s comments aren’t the sort that someone would make if Mattis’ resignation was an insult to the President, as the mainstream media keeps reporting.

What’s more, Trump actually praised the work Mattis did, and hailed him as a great Secretary of Defense despite their differences.

To the shock of almost everyone in Washington, Trump’s comments about Mattis in the wake of his resignation were stunningly respectful and filled with praise.

The President actually showed that despite differences of opinion, the two men can depart on good terms.

The media was hoping to make Mattis’ resignation another circus they could exploit for their own purposes.

And for two years, those purposes have entirely been centered around destroying President Trump, impeaching him from office, or defeating him in 2020.

But Trump surprised them all with the way he handled Mattis’ departure.

And at the same time, President Trump’s foreign policy successes have also left the mainstream media experiencing the sort of confusion and chaos they were hoping the President’s administration was suffering from.

ISIS has been largely defeated, and after nearly 20 years of non-stop warfare in the Middle East, President Trump signaled that he is getting ready to pull American troops out of the region at last.

This has left the media, which had remained silent under the eight years of foreign policy disasters under President Obama, speechless.

The next Secretary of State President Trump appoints will likely have more similar views to him than Mattis, which could mean even more foreign policy successes in 2019 and 2020.

We will keep you up to date on any new developments with this ongoing story.
