Elitist celebrities are not known to shy away from the political spotlight.
Throughout the 2016 campaign, many liberal actors campaigned for Democrat Hillary Clinton, and were outraged when she lost even with their sponsorship.
Now it seems that Hollywood’s finest took it one step further — by attempting to buy an election.
Democratic congressional candidate Jon Ossoff lost the Georgia special election this week, despite an inordinate amount of funding from the extremely liberal state of California.
The largest amount of his funding came from celebrities who have been known for their liberal extremism.
The Daily Caller reports:
The young Democrat received 8.9 times as many many donors from California than from any other state in the union, including all of the totals from Georgia itself.
The failed Democrat received 7,218 private donations from California residents. He benefitted from only 808 donations from inside of Georgia’s sixth congressional district.
Hollywood insiders like Chelsea Handler and George Takei donated to Ossoff’s campaign, and other celebrities like Jane Fonda, Sam Waterson, and Kyra Sedgwick all donated their time towards the campaign.
Why do Hollywood’s elite feel they can meddle in an election completely across the country?
While most celebrities voice a political opinion and use their status to promote their own ideologies, it seems unbelievable that they would spend such an outrageous amount of money to fund the Democratic Party on the other side of the nation.
The Georgia special election was a fairly significant one, as the winner would be a determinate for the political climate shift in the United States right now.
With President Trump in the White House and a Republican congress, it seemed likely that another Republican would come out on top and further shift the government to the political right.
But liberals are furious they are continuously losing both political favor and ground, and Hollywood’s finest wanted to change that in any way they can.
Essentially, liberals used the election as a test run to see how they would favor in a 2018 election — and they failed once more.
And while Hollywood claims to be a part of some resistance, the only change they are making is further pushing blue-collar Americans to the right.
Breitbart News reports:
Actor John Leguizamo’s assertion that democracy itself hinged on Ossoff winning underscored how desperate Hollywood was to send a resounding message of resistance to Trump’s presidency.
But Tuesday’s results were likely to prompt more soul-searching among the political left, who are still looking for their first significant post-Trump election victory
Even President Trump noticed the trend, and tweeted about Hollywood’s interference in said election.
Dems failed in Kansas and are now failing in Georgia. Great job Karen Handel! It is now Hollywood vs. Georgia on June 20th.
