CNN’s war on Donald Trump just took one ugly turn.

One of the network’s reporters ripped Trump with a racist attack.

But this attempt to smear Trump backfired and now CNN could be finished for good.

CNN Attacks Donald Trump For Calling Himself A Nationalist

During a rally for Ted Cruz in Houston on Monday, Donald Trump referred to himself as being a nationalist.

“A globalist is a person that wants the globe to do well, frankly, not caring about our country so much. And you know what? We can’t have that. You know, they have a word. It sort of became old-fashioned. It’s called a nationalist. And I say, really, we’re not supposed to use that word. You know what I am? I’m a nationalist, OK? I’m a nationalist.”

“Nationalist. Nothing — use that word. Use that word,” Trump declared.

The left lost their minds.

They immediately accused him of racism.

To the left, nationalism equals white nationalism.

Nowhere is that more on display than at fake news CNN.

CNN’s White House correspondent Jim Acosta has even accused the President of being a white nationalist.

During an Oval Office meeting, Acosta asked Trump, “Mr. President, just to follow up on your comments about being a nationalist–there is a concern that you are sending coded language or a dog whistle to some Americans out there that what you really mean is that you’re a white nationalist?”

Donald Trump Responds To CNN’s Lies And Smears

Trump rejected CNN’s outrageous accusation.

He said he is a nationalist because he puts America First, “I’ve never heard that theory about being a nationalist. I’ve heard them all,” Trump stated.

“But I’m somebody that loves our country. When I say a nationalist, I don’t like it when Germany is paying 1 percent of GDP for NATO, and we’re paying 4.3 percent. I don’t like that.”

“I love our country. And our country has taken second fiddle,” the President continued. “If you look at the trade deals, and nobody knows it better than me. I’m knocking out some of the worst deals I’ve ever seen. We’re giving all of our wealth, all of our money to other countries. And then they don’t treat us properly.”

Acosta later whined that many Americans consider Trump a white nationalist because Trump wants to secure the border.

“… when you’re demonizing immigrants, migrants coming up from Central America, trying to make their way to the United States and apply for asylum, when you’re demonizing Middle Easterners and making the suggestion they’re terrorists and so on in that caravan without offering any proof and then calling yourself a nationalist in front of thousands and thousands of people, I don’t think it’s a stretch for a lot of Americans to wonder or not whether the president is secretly considering himself a white nationalist,” Acosta ranted.

Donald Trump’s Nationalism Is Grounded In American History

Nationalism is a common theme among American leaders.

Theodore Roosevelt labeled his policy program “new nationalism.”

Ronald Reagan’s rise in the 1970s was fueled by nationalism.

He campaigned on America keeping control of the Panama Canal.

And Reagan rallied Americans after Jimmy Carter helplessly sat by as Iranian’s held Americans hostage for over one year.

His appeal to Americans national pride was instrumental in his two landslide victories.

Donald Trump’s nationalism is well within the bounds of classical American thought.

It’s only liberals and fake news outlets like CNN who want to smear Trump as the modern day Hitler for calling himself a nationalist.
