Chuck Schumer engaged Donald Trump in war on multiple fronts.

The results of the conflict will decide the results of the 2020 election.

And Chuck Schumer just predicted Donald Trump would admit to this painful defeat.

Schumer and his fellow Democrats believe they have President Trump pinned on so-called “election security” legislation.

After former special counsel Robert Mueller’s testimony, Democrats seized on his preposterous conclusion that the Russians “meddled” in the 2016 election in order to demand Senate Republicans pass Democrat legislation providing for a federal government takeover of state election machinery.

But the Constitution mandates that the states run their own election procedures.

There is no federal role in counting ballots.

Furthermore, Congress had already passed hundreds of millions of dollars in election security funds which has yet to be spent by the states.

But that did not stop the House of Representatives from passing a highly partisan “election security” bill that attracted just one single Republican vote.

This legislation also spent another $600 million on “election security” and provided for backup paper ballots.

Republicans in the Senate rejected this federal power grab.

“I worked to ensure Congress sent hundreds of millions of dollars to the states to improve their defenses, and applauded the whole-of-government efforts that the administration continues,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell stated.

“Some of my colleagues quickly pivoted right back into hysterical accusations that only fan the flames of this modern-day McCarthyism. These pundits are lying when they dismiss the work that has been done.”

“Just as cutting the grass at the governor’s mansion is a state responsibility, so is running their elections,” Oklahoma Senator James Lankford added.

“Now there is a federal nexus in this, in that if they mess up a federal election, that has national consequences. But ultimately it’s their responsibility, so I don’t want us to get into funding every single state.”

Democrats responded by dubbing McConnell “Moscow Mitch” and fake news Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank smeared McConnell as a Russian asset in his latest op-ed.

Chuck Schumer led the Democrats in promising to batter Republicans with attacks during the six-week Congressional recess to force them to fold their hand on blocking a federal government takeover of elections.

“I predict that the pressure will continue to mount on Republican senators, especially Leader McConnell, and they will be forced to join us and take meaningful action on election security this fall,” Schumer said.

“My prediction is our relentless push is going to produce results.”

The irony in all of this is Democrats were the ones who pushed to move away from paper ballots after the 2000 recount fiasco in Florida with “hanging” or “dimpled” chads.

No count of the votes in Florida ever showed Al Gore defeating George W. Bush, but Democrats still insisted the race was stolen and America needed a more secure means of counting votes.

Democrats are now complaining about machine voting and the fake news threat of Russia manipulating vote totals to delegitimize the 2020 election because they think Donald Trump may win.
