Chuck Schumer has a major problem on his hands.

And the New York Democrat never saw it coming.

But it all came into focus when Chuck Schumer got slapped with this extremely bad news that his career could be over.

New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the biggest rock star in Democrat Party politics.

From ‘Day One’ it was clear Ocasio-Cortez had her sights set on a bigger prize than just a Congressional seat in the Bronx.

Ocasio-Cortez’s social media posts and far-left policy agenda is driving the conversation on the left.

The only question beyond who would Ocasio-Cortez endorse in the Democrat Presidential primary is what higher office she will eventually seek.

That answer appears to be in hand.

The left-wing political site Axios first reported that Ocasio-Cortez could challenge either Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in 2022 or Kirsten Gillibrand in 2024 in a primary campaign.

Axios exclusively reports:

Top Democrats tell “Axios on HBO” they expect Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may eventually primary one of the two New York senators — Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer in 2022, or Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in 2024.

Why it matters: AOC has instantly become one of the party’s most coveted endorsers (up there with Clintons and Obamas) — and has recently made common cause with Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a pairing that could take off.

This raises several interesting points.

First, Ocasio-Cortez floating the idea of challenging Schumer in a 2022 primary means she may not have confidence in the pack of Democrats running to oust President Trump.

If she believed a Democrat would win the Presidency, there is no chance she would challenge her party’s top Senate leader.

Second, this will keep the heat on Schumer to obstruct every aspect of President Trump’s agenda.

And while that may serve his short-term political interests to remain in office, it could come back to bite the Democrats.

Donald Trump will be sure to campaign in 2020 by attacking the Democrats in the Senate for blocking popular proposals to secure the border and turn off the magnets such as “catch and release” that encourages an illegal alien invasion of America.

In 2016, immigration was one of the key driving forces behind Donald Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton.

There is little doubt President Trump will look to rerun that playbook in 2020.

Ocasio-Cortez is pushing Democrats to embrace extreme proposals such as abolishing ICE.

Schumer may take up this mantle if he thinks it will keep an Ocasio-Cortez primary challenge at bay.

If the Democrats – led by Chuck Schumer – make abolishing ICE a core tenant of their plans for the nation’s immigration system, it will be easy for the President to cast his opponent as an out-of-the-mainstream extremist while portraying himself as working on behalf of U.S. citizens to put America first.

American Patriot Daily will keep you posted on any updates into a possible Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez primary challenge to Chuck Schumer.
