Chuck SchumerChuck Schumer is on the edge of disaster.

With Democrats down in the US Senate, he desperately needs to retake control of the chamber in 2020.

But Schumer just got hit with news that could spell disaster for Democrats in next year’s elections.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is perhaps one of the most miserable men in Washington D.C. at the moment.

With Democrats having retaken the House of Representatives in the 2018 elections, they were hit with awful news that blunted the victory night parties that Nancy Pelosi and her team were throwing.

And that’s because Democrats ended up losing seats in the US Senate at the same time that they were flipping control of the House.

Worse yet, losing more seats in the Senate only makes it more likely that President Trump’s conservative judicial appointments will continue to make it through no matter what sort of tricks Schumer and the Democrats try and pull.

That means that more judges like Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch will continue to get appointed to positions across the country, and possibly more of them on the Supreme Court.

For Schumer, this is nothing short of a disaster.

He has to retake control of the US Senate in the 2020 elections or else his entire political career will be at stake.

But unfortunately for Schumer, the New York Democrat just got hit with news that could guarantee that Democrats will lose the battle for the Senate in next year’s elections.

The Detroit News reports, “John James is heading into the 2020 U.S. Senate race ready for battle, to use the candidate’s military-flavored lingo. The Detroit businessman and combat veteran is making another bid for the office, after losing last November to Sen. Debbie Stabenow in a tighter than expected race.”

After James’ decision to enter the race for Michigan’s 2020 Senate election, he immediately put this seat into play.

And James already made a name for himself last year when he took a race that was supposed to be a sure thing for Democrats, and nearly knocked off a long-term Democratic incumbent with decades of political experience.

This time, James will enjoy the presence of Donald Trump on the ballot in the Wolverine State, in addition to a heightened profile and presumably more money as well, as donors and volunteers across Michigan and America could see James as someone who could defeat the Democrats in a Senate contest they previously thought would be all but theirs.

Of course, this is horrible news for Chuck Schumer.

Schumer has to be trying to figure out how to take back Republican-held seats, not how to defend Democratic-held ones.

And with Democrats also having to defend Alabama at the same time that Donald Trump is on the top of the ticket, Schumer could be looking at a situation where he loses even more seats in the 2020 election.

Do you think Republicans will hold the Senate next year?
