Donald Trump’s enemies in the establishment are digging in for a fight.

They are determined to take down the President by any means necessary.

And all hell broke loose after Trump made this phone call.

The President called Russian President Vladimir Putin to congratulate him on winning re-election.

Politico reports:

“President Donald Trump congratulated Vladimir Putin on the Russian president’s Sunday election victory, and predicted the two men will soon meet in person.

But the White House said Trump did not raise concerns about the widely-criticized nature of Putin’s win, nor did the U.S. president mention Russian cyber aggression or a recent nerve agent attack in England that Trump has said Moscow “probably” directed.

During a brief meeting with reporters at the White House on Tuesday, Trump instead described the latest in a series of friendly conversations with the Russian leader, who has assumed villainous status in many Western capitals.

“We had a very good call and I suspect that we’ll probably be meeting in the not-too-distant future to discuss the arms race, which is getting out of control,” Trump told reporters at the White House on Tuesday.”

This led to an unthinkable story where a disloyal member of the administration leaked the notes Trump’s national security advisors had prepared for him to the Washington Post.

The notes read, “Do not congratulate.”

The Post reports:

“President Trump did not follow specific warnings from his national security advisers Tuesday when he congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin on his reelection — including a section in his briefing materials in all-capital letters stating “DO NOT CONGRATULATE,” according to officials familiar with the call.

Trump also chose not to heed talking points from aides instructing him to condemn the recent poisoning of a former Russian spy in Britain with a powerful nerve agent, a case that both the British and U.S. governments have blamed on Moscow.”

The leak was designed to embarrass the President and feed the media story that Trump is soft on Putin because they colluded during the election.

But that is not true.

One White House source told Axios that Trump wants a good personal relationship with Putin – even though his administration has cracked down on Russia by virtue of selling missiles to Ukraine and implementing sanctions for alleged election meddling – because Trump believes the two countries have overlapping interests and Trump is polite to people he does business with.

Axios reports:

“A White House official, furious about the WaPo story, told Swan: “This is the way Trump is. If he’s doing business with you or working with you in some way, he’s going to congratulate you.”

  • The official said: “The idea he’s being soft on Russia is crap. He approved Javelin missiles to Ukraine, closed the consulate in San Francisco, approved the sanctions. … But … he doesn’t want his personal relationship [with Putin] to be acrimonious.”

Even former Bush administration press secretary Ari Fleisher blasted the leaker as disloyal.

Do you believe this is another example of disloyal members of the Trump administration trying to embarrass the President?
