Bernie Sanders is now officially running for president.

But the Vermont Socialist’s campaign is now under fire for something he never expected.

This scandal just exposed how much of a massive hypocrite Sanders is.

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders made it official this month that he intends to run for president in 2020.

The self-proclaimed Socialist is perhaps best known for nearly defeating Hillary Clinton in the 2016 Democratic Primaries.

But now, Sanders is under fire by some of Clinton’s ex-staffers for taking multiple private jet flights during his travels across the country on behalf of Clinton in the general election.

It seems no love is lost between the Clinton and Sanders camps.

Politico reports, “In his campaign launch video last week, Bernie Sanders singled out the fossil fuel industry for criticism, listing it among the special interests he planned to take on.”

However, Politico adds, “But in the final months of the 2016 campaign, Sanders repeatedly requested and received the use of a carbon-spewing private jet for himself and his traveling staff when he served as a surrogate campaigner for Hillary Clinton.”

In the two years since the 2016 election, Sanders’ habit of using private jet flights seems to have only grown, with the Vermont Senator spending $342,000 on them.

This hypocritical behavior is now being singled out as a massive problem for the Vermont Senator.

Sanders has railed against wealth inequality, the lifestyles of the rich, and on climate change.

Yet at the same time Senator Sanders has exhibited more of all three than most Americans ever have.

To make things worse for Sanders, staffers from Hillary Clinton’s presidential run are now taking aim at the Senator as a form of political payback for his challenge against Clinton two years ago.

Many in the Democratic Party argue that Bernie Sanders played a vital role in helping to tank Clinton’s race against Donald Trump because of his primary attacks on her prior to the Democratic nomination process, and his refusal to concede to her once it became clear that he had effectively zero chance of being the nominee.

With Bernie Sanders now ranking among the top candidates for a crowded primary field, these attacks on him will almost certainly continue to grow as Clinton staffers seek to derail the Vermont Socialist’s campaign.

“I’m not shocked that while thousands of volunteers braved the heat and cold to knock on doors until their fingers bled in a desperate effort to stop Donald Trump, his Royal Majesty King Bernie Sanders would only deign to leave his plush D.C. office or his brand new second home on the lake if he was flown around on a cushy private jet like a billionaire master of the universe,” said Zac Petkanas, who was the director of rapid response for the Clinton campaign.

Clearly Clinton’s campaign is still bitter over Bernie Sanders’ attacks on her in 2016.

Do you think Bernie Sanders should apologize for taking private jet flights?
