Bernie Sanders has not left the political stage.

After his defeat in the 2016 Democrat Presidential primary, he began to position himself as a leader of the “resistance” to Donald Trump.

Now, he’s about to make an announcement that could backfire big-time.

Sanders has not given up his Presidential ambitions.

In fact, he stated in a recent interview that he has not closed the door on a 2020 bid.

Breitbart reports:

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said in an interview Wednesday that he is not ruling out a 2020 presidential run — despite an FBI investigation into a land deal his wife made when she was head of a Vermont college, and a possible longshot challenge for his Senate seat from a Democratic challenger.

“No, I am not taking it off the table,” he said in response to a question on SiriusXM Progress channel’s Make It Plain With Mark Thompson. “I just have not made any decisions, and I think it’s much too early.”

Leftists would be thrilled if the self-described socialist ran again.

Some liberals believe Sanders would have beaten Trump in the 2016 election.

But that is false.

Trump won in large part due to his pledge to repeal Obamacare.

Sanders was promising to expand Obamacare to a $32 trillion government-run health care system.

That would have proven to be his undoing.

But Sanders has another problem if he runs in 2020.

The FBI is ramping up its investigation of allegations his wife committed bank fraud while President of Burlington College.

Jane Sanders is accused of submitting false loan documents to a bank in order to secure funding for the college to acquire land for an expansion.

Bernie Sanders claims the allegations are politically motivated, but in her paperwork, Jane Sanders allegedly stated she had secured over two million dollars in donations when, in fact, she had raised less than one million.

In fact, some donors didn’t even agree to the donation amounts or timeframes Jane Sanders listed on her loan application.

Sanders could run for President in 2020.

He might even win the Democrat Party nomination.

But as America saw in 2016, running under the cloud of an FBI investigation is a death knell for a candidate.
