Chuck Schumer and the Democrats pinned their hopes on Sunday’s anti-gun march.

They believed the energy behind the protest would propel them to victory in November.

But this one fact about the march was bad news for Schumer.

Attendance at the rally was pathetic and it fell far short of the media – and its organizers – expectations.

There had been talk that up to one million people could attend while organizers set the goal at 500,000.

Less than 200,000 people showed up.

The Daily Caller reports:

“Around 200,000 people attended the March For Our Lives gun control event in Washington, D.C. Saturday afternoon, CBS News reported.

The number is well below the 500,000 number organizers of the event expected and 600,000 less than initially reported by many news outlets immediately following the celebrity-fueled march and rally. The march took place between noon and 3 p.m. on Pennsylvania Avenue between 3rd Street NW and 12th Street NW.”

The rally drew a small crowd despite having the left’s entire infrastructure at their disposal.

Media outlets promoted the march relentlessly.

CNN even broadcasted all their shows live from the rally and turned their network into a propaganda infomercial to take people’s guns away.

Hollywood celebrities poured money into the event.

A-list actor George Clooney donated $500,000 which was matched by Oprah Winfrey and Steven Spielberg and his wife, Kate Capshaw.

Even local governments joined in.

The city of Baltimore spent up to $100,000 on buses to increase turnout to the event.

And yet the march still failed to even come close to expectations in terms of crowd size.

Republicans should take note.

Most Americans do not support the left’s anti-gun agenda.

There is no political reward for supporting gun control as the passion and energy on the issue is with supporters of the Second Amendment.

Gun grabbers had a month to plan this march and had every financial and promotional advantage at their finger tips.

But they still fell flat on their face.

If Democrats were counting on a surge of anti-gun activism to sweep them into power in November, they just got some very bad news.
