Democrats are consumed with madness in reacting to Donald Trump’s meeting with Vladimir Putin.

They are hunting for any angle to damage the President.

That came to a head when Devin Nunes shut down one bonkers attempt to impeach the President.

Democrats are convinced Trump’s performance at the press conference with Putin is evidence the Russian President holds compromising information on Trump.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer got that ball rolling with a tweet after the press conference:

A single, ominous question now hangs over the White House: what could possibly cause @realDonaldTrump to put the interests of Russia over those of the United States.

Millions of Americans will continue to wonder if the only possible explanation for this dangerous behavior is the possibility that President Putin holds damaging information over President Trump.

Democrats – led by Schumer – also pushed to subpoena the interpreter who was in the one-on-one meeting Trump and Putin held.

No staff was present except each side’s interpreter.

Democrats are convinced that Trump is a Russian agent and compromised America’s national security by entering into secret agreements with his Russian spymaster.

It is the worst case of Trump Derangement Syndrome anyone has ever seen.

But this was no idle threat.

Democrats actually acted on this lunacy.

California Democrat Adam Schiff – the ranking member of the House Permanent Select Intelligence Committee – actually held up a hearing to force a vote on subpoenaing President Trump’s interpreter.

The Committee was holding a hearing on China’s threat to American government and private sector research and innovation leadership, when Schiff interrupted to make a motion to subpoena the interpreter.

Schiff tweeted:

BREAKING: @RepSwalwell and I just made a motion in House Intel Committee to subpoena the American interpreter during the summit — the only witness to Trump’s meeting with Putin. This is an extraordinary remedy, but Trump’s actions necessitate it.

Nunes allowed for a vote and the committee rejected Schiff’s motion 11 to 6 along party lines.

Democrats didn’t actually want to know what happened in the meeting.

They only wanted a crack at the interpreter so they could spin whatever he reported into grounds for removing the President should they take over Congress in November.

Chairman Nunes shut this nonsense down by putting the Democrats proposal to the test.

Nunes was also correct to dismiss this political stunt because the hearing was on the danger posed by Chinese espionage and cyber attacks.

FBI Director Christopher Wray revealed that China – and not Russia – poses the greatest threat to America and that China has spying operations active in all 50 states.

Appearing at the Aspen Ideas Festival, Wray stated, “I think China, from a counterintelligence perspective, in many ways represents the broadest, most challenging, most significant threat we face as a country.”

“And I say that because for them it is a whole of state effort. It is economic espionage as well as traditional espionage; it is nontraditional collectors as well as traditional intelligence operatives; it’s human sources as well as cyber means.”

“We have economic-espionage investigations in every state, all 50 states, that trace back to China. It covers everything from corn seeds in Iowa to wind turbines in Massachusetts and everything in between. So the volume of it, the pervasiveness of it, the significance of it, is something I think this country cannot underestimate,” the FBI Director concluded.

Instead of dealing with America’s real threats, Democrats were chasing Russian phantoms about collusion and secret deals with the express purpose of destabilizing America’s system of government by pursuing a politically motivated impeachment scheme.
