Impeachment of President Donald Trump is the only thing on Democrats’ minds.

But Nancy Pelosi is trying to play both sides in a desperate bid to cling to power.

And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is going to lose her mind when she hears about Pelosi’s latest impeachment plans.

Ever since President Trump first took office, if not before he was even sworn in as President, Democrats have been fixated on removing him from power.

It’s a dream of every major Democrat to deal the death blow to President Trump’s political career, and the easiest way to bring about that reality would simply be to impeach him and remove him from office.

There’s just one problem.

The Democrats don’t have any way to impeach the President.

In fact, they have zero grounds to even bring up articles of impeachment against him, especially after the Special Counsel investigation from Robert Mueller cleared Trump of any collusion with the Russian government in the 2016 election.

And now Democrats are scrambling and fighting with one another over what to do next.

Some Democrats are still pushing for impeachment, like Massachusetts Senator and presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren.

Others however, including Speaker Nancy Pelosi, are worried that pushing for impeachment will only help Trump in the long run, making him a victim in a political witch hunt that could spark a massive backlash against Democrats at the polls in 2020.

Politico has the story, “Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Monday rejected calls to launch impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump despite new voices in her caucus calling for the House to take that step in the aftermath of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report.

“The speaker vowed to wield the full power of her House majority to ‘uncover the truth’ of Trump’s ‘highly unethical and unscrupulous behavior in his alleged attempts to obstruct justice. But the longtime Democratic leader wouldn’t endorse taking action to impeach the president despite a growing chorus from her party’s left flank to immediately hold hearings on the potential ouster of the president.’”

It’s obvious that Pelosi is taking a step that will almost certainly alienate the more radical members in her own party, led by the likes of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

But it’s equally obvious that she’s still trying to play both sides in the battle over whether or not to impeach, and she’s not fooling anyone.

Still, many are worried that if people like Ocasio-Cortez get their way, Trump will only emerge as the victor in the long run.

“Mueller didn’t do us any favors — he left us bread crumbs to follow,” said Rep. Val Demings, a top Democrat and Pelosi ally in the House.

“We are struggling to justify why we aren’t beginning impeachment proceedings,” said Rep. Val Demings (D-Fla.), a member of the Judiciary Committee, according to sources on the call. “As a 27-year law enforcement officer, and while I understand we need to see the full report and all supporting documents, I believe we have enough evidence now.”

Without the smoking gun that Democrats were hoping would come about from the Mueller report, they have almost no options left to push for impeachment, and Pelosi knows it, even if Ocasio-Cortez does not.
