The conduct of the media has become a major story in the first month of the Trump administration.

Critics believe the media has morphed into a relentlessly hostile opposition force.

And one prominent TV host has let the cat out of the bag on how the media sees its job.

On a recent broadcast of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, the show’s panel was discussing Trump’s role with the media.

The conversation began with host Joe Scarborough commenting that Trump supporters are baffled by the hostility toward the President because he is simply implementing the agenda he campaigned on.

Co-host Mika Brzezinski then chimed in saying that Trump blasting through the media filter is dangerous because it’s the media’s job to “control what people think.”

The Washington Free Beacon reports:

“Brzezinski said she is concerned about what Trump’s presidency may mean for the media.

“Well, and I think that the dangerous, you know, edges here are that he’s trying to undermine the media, trying to make up his own facts,” she said.

Brzezinski then appeared to argue that the media’s job is to control what people think, adding that the president is interfering with it.

“And it could be that while unemployment and the economy worsens, he could have undermined the messaging so much that he can actually control exactly what people think. And that, that is our job,” she said.”

Conservatives argued the case that the media is a hostile opposition force towards Trump.

Brezinski’s words made it clear that members of the media are worried voters will believe Trump and not their slanted take on the news.

Critics argue it’s not the job of the press to control what people think.

The media is supposed to present the facts as best they can in an unbiased manner, allowing their readers to form their own opinions.

But what Brzezinski is arguing for is media indoctrination to hurt Trump’s political chances.

The fight between Trump and the media has been escalating.

Trump tweeted that news outlets he indentifies as fake news were enemies of the American people.

Trump didn’t label the entire media “enemies.”

He just noted that certain media outlets were fake news and enemies of the American people because they stopped trying to inform the public.

Instead they’ve become political activists pretending to be neutral so they can push a hyper-partisan agenda.

The media has reason to worry.

A recent Fox News poll found more Americans believe Trump over the media.

And one pollster tweeted he conducted a focus group of Trump supporters in a key swing state and not a single one said they believed the media over Trump.

It’s not hard to see why.

Mika Brzezinski accidentally let the cat out of the bag that the media’s job is to control what people think.

And many Americans are catching on and tuning them out.
