The left is increasing their calls for an independent investigation into Donald Trump and Russia.
Critics see this as a push for a politically motivated witch hunt.
And Trey Gowdy shut down these calls in one must-see interview.
Gowdy sits on the House Intelligence Committee, which is overseeing the investigation into Russia’s conduct during the election.
He recently appeared on CBS’s Face the Nation and responded to the hysterical calls from the left for an independent investigation.
Gowdy shut down the unhinged liberals by pointing out there already is an independent investigation – the one being conducted by the FBI.
The Washington Examiner reports:
“A top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee said that a special independent panel isn’t needed to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 election because the FBI is already doing a probe.
Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., said on Face the Nation on Sunday that the FBI probe negates the need for the independent panel, which Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Adam Schiff, D-Calif., had called for earlier in the program.
Gowdy said that the FBI is the world’s “premier law enforcement agency.”
“It doesn’t get any more independent than that,” he said.”
Gowdy also ripped Democrats and members of the press for criticizing House Intelligence Chair Devin Nunes for briefing Trump on the information which suggested members of his transition team had been caught up in incidental collection during the course of surveillance.
Gowdy pointed out the information was not related to Russia and that as President, Donald Trump had every right to that information.
.@TGowdySC says Chairman Nunes briefed President Trump on a matter that had nothing to do with the FBI investigation.

Democrats are looking for a fishing expedition into Russia because their conspiracy theory about Trump and Russia is beginning to evaporate.
No evidence has emerged tying the Trump campaign to the Russian government or Russian intelligence.
In fact, even former Obama officials such as former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and former acting-Director of the CIA Michael Morrell have said they saw no evidence of collusion between Trump and the Russian government.
Democrats are desperate to delegitimize Donald Trump and set him up for defeat in 2020.
They are banking on conspiracy theories regarding Russia to help them carry the day.
But they are failing because there is no evidence to back up their tinfoil hat nuttiness.
Republicans would be wise to adopt Trey Gowdy’s position and refuse to hand the Democrats a lifeline in the form of an independent investigation.
