Could this be the end of Planned Parenthood?
Following an investigation into the practice of selling body parts of aborted babies and potentially breaking federal laws governing the practice, the Senate Judiciary Committee is recommending criminal charges for Planned Parenthood.
In a letter sent to the FBI and the Department of Justice on Tuesday, committee Chairman Chuck Grassley referred four of Planned Parenthood’s largest affiliates and three of the abortion provider’s business partners for potential prosecution.
Grassley said in a press release:
“I don’t take lightly making a criminal referral. But, the seeming disregard for the law by these entities has been fueled by decades of utter failure by the Justice Department to enforce it.
And, unless there is a renewed commitment by everyone involved against criminalizing the trade in aborted fetal body parts for profit, then the outcome is likely to continue.”
Of course the Obama administration will ignore this report and these potential charges, but the referral will provide the Trump administration with a clean slate to levy criminal charges against the profane liberal organization.
The referral follows an undercover video investigation into Planned Parenthood and its business partners that was published last year by the Center for Medical Progress.
The undercover videos featured Planned Parenthood executives casually discussing the sale of human remains from abortions, completely void of any empathy whatsoever.
In one video, Dr. Deborah Nucatola of Planned Parenthood commented on baby-crushing: “We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact.”
But surprisingly, the committee said those videos played no part in its investigation into Planned Parenthood.
The press release also stated:
“While the impetus for the investigation was the release of a series of videos regarding transfers of fetal tissue by the Center for Medical Progress, the committee’s analysis and findings are based strictly on the documents obtained independently from tissue procurement companies and Planned Parenthood.”
The Judiciary Committee released a report about the review of more than 20,000 documents provided by the organizations involved in the case.
Among its findings, the report said the cost analyses provided by Planned Parenthood:
“lack[ed] sufficient documentation and rely on unreasonably broad and vague claims of costs for the ‘transportation, implantation, processing, preservation, quality control or storage of’ fetal tissue.
The cost analyses were only performed long after the fact and at the insistence of the committee.”
And since 2010, three companies – Advanced Bioscience Resources, Inc., StemExpress, LLC, and Novogenix Laboratories, LLC – have paid affiliates of Planned Parenthood to acquire aborted fetuses, and then selling the fetal tissue to their respective customers at substantially higher prices than their documented costs.
Planned Parenthood initially had a policy in place to ensure its affiliates were complying with the law, but the affiliates failed to follow its fetal tissue reimbursement policy.
When they learned in 2011 of this situation, Planned Parenthood cancelled the policy altogether – rather than exercise oversight to bring the affiliates back into compliance.
They not only turned a blind eye to the violations of its fetal tissue policy, but also altered its own oversight procedures and enabling those affiliates’ practices to continue unimpeded.
Ushering in the new Congress might finally bring a halt to Planned Parenthood and begin the process of defunding this abomination.
