The President working out of the Oval Office is an iconic American image.
After winning the election, it is supposed to be Donald Trump’s work space.
But thanks to Barack Obama, Trump will be denied the opportunity.
Barack Obama last renovated the Oval Office in 2010.
So it was due for upgrades.
And according to Fox News contributor Karl Rove, the changes included security upgrades that could have been completed in Obama’s last year in office, but were pushed off to when the new President took over.
This will deny Trump the opportunity to work out of the Oval Office for the first year of his Presidency.
The New York Post reports:
“President Obama is apparently refusing to renovate the Oval Office — and has instead decided to pass the buck to Donald Trump, who may be forced to work somewhere else for a quarter of his term now as a result of the numerous security upgrades that will be going on inside the room.
“My understanding is that for the first year of his time in office, President Trump will not have the Oval Office,” former George W. Bush adviser Karl Rove told Fox News on Wednesday.
President Obama could have told the Secret Service, ‘I know you want to modernize the Oval Office with security enhancements — literally strip it down to the bare walls and build it back up so we’ve got bullet proof glass and so forth and so on, security arrangements in it, in my last year in office,’ but instead he said, ‘Why don’t you do that [with] whoever comes next.’”
According to Rove, Trump may likely have to spend up to a quarter of his term working out of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building across the street from the presidential seat of power — which is where President Richard Nixon recorded some his infamous White House tapes.
“My understanding is, [Trump] will spend most of his first year using Richard Nixon’s old office in the Old Executive Office Building across executive drive and up the Navy steps,” Rove said.
The decision to not renovate the Oval Office may ultimately come as a surprise to some, seeing as President Obama chose to redecorate the room completely in 2010 — adorning it with big, cushy sofas and striped wallpaper.”
This decision was made before it was apparent Trump was going to win the election, so Obama wasn’t doing it to snub Trump.
But many critics believe it is telling that Obama would rather the new President – whether it was Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump – be denied the President’s working environment in the crucial first year of their Presidency while trying to get their administration up and running.
Obama has received many plaudits from the corporate media for his conduct during the transition of a Trump administration.
However, there have been flare-ups of Obama’s usual arrogance.
For example, he canceled a photo-op between the Trump and Obama families when Trump and Melania visited the White House two days after the election.
American Patriot Daily will continue to cover the transition as Donald Trump assumes the Presidency on January 20th, 2017.
