The Republican establishment is up in arms.

They have been plotting a sneak attack to end-run Donald Trump.

But one Senator has thwarted their plans at every turn.

Since returning to the Senate after his failed Presidential campaign, Rand Paul has re-established himself as a conservative firebrand.

Paul has led the charge against Paul Ryan’s attempts to keep Obamacare in place.

He’s met with the House Freedom Caucus to bolster their opposition and to offer a free market health care alternative.

Ryan’s plan keeps Obamacare’s taxes and regulations in place.

Paul believes Ryan misled Trump on the true nature of the bill, and he’s been working furiously to kill the legislation.

He’s rallied house conservatives to kill the legislation, and even if it does pass the lower chamber, Paul declares the bill dead on arrival in the Senate.

Fox News reports:

“Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., slammed House Republicans’ healthcare bill in an interview with Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Thursday, vowing the measure would be “dead on arrival” in the Senate.

“It keeps the ObamaCare taxes for a year,” Paul told host Ed Henry. “Then [it] keeps the Cadillac tax forever; [it] keeps the ObamaCare subsidies, but renames them tax credits; [it] keeps the individual mandate, but you don’t pay the government the penalty, you’ve got to pay the insurance company … That’s the very definition of ObamaCare Lite.”

Paul, a licensed opthamologist, touted his own health care plan, which he said was based on ideas sketched out by current Health and Human Services secretary Tom Price.”

In addition to fighting to kill Obamacare 2.0, Paul has fought the establishment’s plan to expand NATO by extending membership to Montenegro.

Paul has placed a hold on the treaty because he contends it endangers American security by creating a flashpoint with Russia.

Politico reports:

“Senators and aides said the treaty could be passed easily if Paul would release his hold, sending a swift message to Russia that the United States isn’t stepping away from Eastern Europe, even with a NATO skeptic like Donald Trump as president. While Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) is demanding a roll-call vote rather than passing the treaty with a quick request to do so unanimously, Paul is far more implacable and doesn’t want it to move forward at all.

“Montenegro doesn’t add a great deal to the national security of the United States,” Paul said in an interview. “For people who want Montenegro [in NATO], many of them want Ukraine and Georgia in there. And I think if you do that you have to be prepared to go to war with Russia.”

Paul’s hold led establishment war-hawk John McCain to rant on the Senate floor accusing Paul of working for Vladimir Putin.

But Paul is merely acting in accordance with the wishes of conservatives and Donald Trump.

Paul – as well Trump and other conservatives – believe our military obligations are already overextended.

America is facing a $20 trillion debt, and conservatives like Paul and nationalists like Trump argue America can’t afford to be the world’s policeman.

This outraged the globalist establishment who wants to ramp up tensions with Russia.

But Paul is standing strong in his fights against the establishment.

And the elites are becoming unhinged because of it.
