A cornerstone of Donald Trump’s campaign for the presidency was his promise to crack down on illegal immigration into the United States.

President Trump has been met with resistance from the left regarding his plans to immediately build a border wall and secure the nation from potentially dangerous refugees from terrorist hotbeds.

But lurking within our borders are thousands of illegals with criminal records, and until now, they have faced little punishment for their crimes, continuing to live freely and receive federal benefits.

Now in an attempt to shame local officials who are protecting these criminals, the Department of Homeland Security has begun a process of publishing a weekly list of all U.S. cities that are providing protection for these dangerous criminals.

Breitbart News reported:

Each week, the list will publish every detention request rejected by local jails — detailing the relevant agency, the status of the immigrant, and the charges they are facing.

The first report was published listing 206 cases in which illegal aliens were arrested and consequently released from jail without charge, despite recommendations from the Immigration and Crime Enforcement agency (ICE) to detain them for at least 48 hours.

President Trump has promised a safer America for all citizens, and the violation of local officials and police departments in these “sanctuary cities” is a slap in the face to every law-abiding American citizen.

The crimes committed by these illegal immigrants range from drug sales, to rape, and even murder.

And yet, in an effort to undermine Trump, the liberal left has fought the President at every turn in his efforts to secure the safety of all Americans.

In one of his first executive orders, President Trump began his quest to make the nation safe from criminal illegals and has said the weekly lists are necessary to keep the public aware of the fact local officials disregard the safety of their citizens.

The New York Daily News reported:

The information – including descriptions of crimes charged or committed by undocumented immigrants held in custody across the nation – will be updated weekly by Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) going forward.

“When law enforcement agencies fail to honor immigration detainers and release serious criminal offenders, it undermines ICE’s ability to protect the public safety and carry out its mission,” said Acting ICE Director Thomas Homan.

The Trump administration hopes the release of the list will cause a public outcry and demand for justice and protection of every American citizen.

And the cities in violation of the order also face losing federal funding should their local officials refuse to comply with federal law.

The Daily Caller reported:

Sanctuary counties and cities have been attempting to deny that they indeed ignore ICE detainers, but the report released Monday makes certain which places the federal government can indeed strip federal funding from. These sanctuary jurisdictions include Philadelphia; Clark County, Nev.; Washington D.C.; Boston; Newark; New York City; Chicago; Milwaukee and all of Rhode Island’s state prisons.

President Trump has vowed to stand strong in the face of opposition in his efforts to secure our nation.

“When it comes to public safety, there is no place for politics; no Republicans, no Democrats, just citizens, and good citizens,” Trump said. “We want safe communities. We demand safe communities for everyone.”
