Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, just shut down rumors of recent “fake news” posted by media sources regarding Donald Trump.
He recently met with President-elect Trump to express his dismay at the supposed “intelligence leaks.”
CNN was the original culprit of the fake news story, while BuzzFeed furthered the rumors.
The fluff media organization BuzzFeed recently published documents that were both unverified and unsanctioned.
According to the fake news story, the documents were compiled by British spy organizations and contained unverified information regarding President-elect Donald Trump.
This came shortly after CNN published more fluff news that President Obama and President-elect Trump had been shown the information from the documents and were ready to pass it on to top officials.
President-elect Trump addressed the fake news issue via social media.
The Daily Caller reported:
“Intelligence agencies should never have allowed this fake news to ‘leak’ into the public. One last shot at me. Are we living in Nazi Germany?” Trump tweeted about the reports. Clapper said that in his conversation with Trump they agreed that the leaks to the press are “extremely corrosive and damaging to our national security.”
“We also discussed the private security company document, which was widely circulated in recent months among the media, members of Congress and Congressional staff even before the [intelligence community] became aware of it,” Clapper said in the statement. “I emphasized that this document is not a U.S. Intelligence Community product and that I do not believe the leaks came from within the Intelligence community.”
Clapper claimed the United States intelligence organization had not yet verified any of the information in the documents. And the site was unclear at the time of the posting of the fake news and what the significance of the documents was.
The Daily Caller reported:
The intelligence chief went on to say that the intelligence community has not made any judgment on whether the dossier has reliable information. Clapper added, “However, part of our obligation is to ensure that policymakers are provided with the fullest possible picture of any matters that might affect national security.”
NBC reported Wednesday that the summary of the dossier was included in the intelligence report on Russian interference in order to highlight the difference between unverified intelligence and “analyzed intelligence.”
Once again, liberal media outlets are jumping at any chance to challenge conservative politics.
The newest form of their treachery is “fake news,” which many view and believe to be actual fact, and then receive misinformation.
In this case, information that could have been significant to national security was released without verification or causation.
