Barack Obama used his final year-end press conference to take a victory lap.

He listed off all the supposed accomplishments of his administration.

But what he ignored was the fact he is leaving behind one of the biggest disasters in American history.

Barack Obama’s foreign policy has been a disaster.

His failed policies to defeat ISIS and his disastrous intervention in the Syrian Civil War have now come to a head.

Russian Ambassador Andrei Karlov was gunned down on camera by an off-duty Turkish police officer.

The assassin yelled “Allah Akbar” and said the kill was revenge for Syria.

CNN reports:

“The ambassador fell to the floor. The gunman circled his body, visibly agitated as he smashed photos hanging on the wall, said Associated Press photographer Burhan Ozbilici, who captured the incident.

“Allahu akbar (God is greatest). Do not forget Aleppo! Do not forget Syria! Do not forget Aleppo! Do not forget Syria!” Altintas is heard shouting in video of the incident.

“Only death will remove me from here. Everyone who has taken part in this oppression will one by one pay for it,” he said.”

Russia has been aiding Syrian strongman Bashar al-Assad in his fight against the so-called “rebels”.

The United States, too, has sent arms to the allegedly “moderate” rebels – even though the forces opposed to Assad include ISIS and other jihadist groups.

To make matters worse, Russia and Turkey have a recent history of escalating tensions.

In 2015, Turkish fighters shot down a Russian war plane that was carrying out part of Russia’s bombing campaign in Syria.

The Turkish government claimed the pilot had been warned not to cross into their territory, but had crossed into Turkish territory anyways.

Russian officials stated no such warning was given and that the aircraft remained on the Syrian side of the border.

The entire situation in Syria is a powder keg.

Turkey is a NATO ally and should they be attacked by Russia, the United States is obligated to defend them.

Global powers are being sucked into a Civil War with a dictator on one side, and ISIS and terrorists groups on the other.

Trump stated during the campaign trail that the conflict in Syria isn’t our fight.

He’s criticized Obama and others for arming rebels when we don’t know who these people are.

But will his Presidency be caught in a web of foreign entanglements left behind by Obama?

And this isn’t the only debacle Obama is leaving for President-elect Trump to clean up.

Obama’s disastrous intervention in Syria – and in Libya – plus his retreat in Iraq created a vacuum that allowed ISIS to grow and gain strength.

The latest example of ISIS flexing their muscle was in Germany where a driver plowed a truck into a crowded Christmas market in Berlin.

At least 12 innocents were killed.

Police now suspect a Tunisian man was the driver, which ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Telegraph reports:

“An intense manhunt was underway on Wednesday morning for the perpetrator of the Berlin terror attack, as police warned he was still at large and could be armed and dangerous.

Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (Isil) claimed responsibility for the attack in which a lorry ploughed through a crowded Christmas market in the heart of the city, leaving 12 dead and 49 wounded…

…“A soldier of the Islamic State carried out the Berlin operation in response to appeals to target citizens of the crusader coalition countries,” Isil claimed in a statement via its Amaq news agency.

The group has previously called on supporters to use truck attacks to target civilians in Europe.”

This is yet another example of ISIS striking beyond the borders of Iraq and Syria.

Terrorists inspired by ISIS have also struck in the United States.

Obama’s strategy has failed to defeat the jihadist group.

They own territory and the ability to commit acts of terror across the globe.

Will President-elect Trump succeed in cleaning up Obama’s mess?
