Since taking office, Barack Obama has used every opportunity to undermine our men and women in uniform.

He’s pushed to downsize the armed forces and has thrown away their victories in Iraq with a retreat.

But Obama’s latest move has left war heroes and veterans fuming.

The Obama regime is naming a U.S. Navy warship after former Democrat Senator, Carl Levin.

Levin has never served in our military, nor has any connection to our military.

Honoring this man above the nearly 200 Medal of Honor recipients is a violation of our military’s protocol.

The Washington Times reports on the shameful decision:

“As the Obama administration this week named another warship after a politician, a new report is circulating in Congress that shows that nearly 200 Navy and Marine Corps Medal of Honor recipients have never been awarded such an honor, contrary to naval guidelines and tradition.

Navy Secretary Ray Mabus, who has named several ships after Democrats and liberal activists not connected to the military, was in Detroit on Monday to announce that an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer will be named the USS Carl M. Levin. The Michigan Democrat served 31 years in the Senate and chaired the Senate Armed Services Committee from 2007 to 2015.

The move has rankled some Republicans. They note privately the long list of war heroes yet to be so honored and the Navy’s own tradition of naming destroyers after deceased Medal of Honor recipients and other combat heroes, as well as admirals and generals who played significant roles in naval warfare.”

Although critics contend this as the most shameful insult toward our military yet, Obama has given number of slights since the day he took office.

During a speech, Obama referred to America’s military as “my military.”

And there was the time he asked a Marine to hold an umbrella over his head while he gave a speech in a drizzle.

But those are just snubs in decorum.

Obama has insulted our military with policies that inflict actual damage to our nation.

He has threatened military chaplains with arrest if they minister on bases.

And he has pushed for a large scale reduction in our military might.

The Obama regime planned to cut troops’ levels by 40,000 – a 10% decrease in manpower.

And it was Obama who pushed for nearly half of the $1.2 trillion in sequestration cuts from the Budget Control Act of 2011 to come out of defense spending.

Ballistic missile defense programs have been either eliminated or have seen their funding drastically reduced.

There is nearly eight years of symbolic and substantive slights against our military made by Obama.

Passing over our most honored war heroes in favor of a partisan elected official is just one last kick to the gut as his presidency comes to an end.
