A new scandal has emerged in the Obama administration, even after leaving office.
President Trump recently made an accusation against Obama that could change history.
While the ex-President is denying any such accusations, President Trump is pushing to gain evidence that will indict Obama and may leave him the first President in history with a felony charge.
President Trump recently accused Obama of wiretapping his office and business, Trump Tower, in the last few key weeks of his campaign.
While no important information was found by Obama according to President Trump, the accusation is very serious.
Wiretapping is inherently illegal; as it is unauthorized for a member of the White House or staff to order wiretapping surveillance.
Even if President Obama really did tap into President Trump’s office, nothing was found, making the illegal act essentially in vain.
Liberals are claiming Obama couldn’t possibly have wiretapped Trump Tower, solely because it is illegal.
But if President Trump finds more conclusive evidence to back his suspicions, Obama could be the first President in history with a felony charge.
ABC news reported:
One of Obama’s former national security aides, Ben Rhodes, responded to the Tweets. “No president can order a wiretap. Those restrictions were put in place to protect citizens….”
At the time of the accusations, only the Attorney General was apparently legally able to order a wiretapping.
President Obama, theoretically, had no authority to order a wiretap, and although such action would be illegal, as seen in recent times, the law is typically not respected by the Democratic Party.
The Hill reported:
Former Attorney General Michael Mukasey on Sunday said that President Trump is likely correct that there was surveillance on Trump Tower for intelligence purposes…
“I think he’s right in that there was surveillance and that it was conducted at the behest of the attorney general — at the Justice Department,” Mukasey told ABC’s “This Week.”
Some claim the accusations by Trump arose from an article on Breitbart, but the article was simply stating factual evidence from an anonymous source relating to the Trump surveillance scandal.
Breitbart News reported:
An editorial note at this link reveals that the print version of this article was headlined: “Wiretapped Data Used in Inquiry of Trump Aides.”
It quotes an anonymous source who says that “wiretapped communications had been provided to the White House” as part of an investigation into “the business dealings that some of the president-elect’s past and present advisers have had with Russia.”
When evidence is found to prove President Obama ordered surveillance on Trump Tower, and consequently President Trump, it will lead to a presidential scandal of Watergate proportions.
