These terrorists celebrated.

From the day he announced his presidential candidacy in 2007, Barack Obama has crusaded to close the terrorist prison at Guantanamo Bay.

And just recently, he announced his intention to fulfill one of his most dangerous promises.

Emptying the Gitmo detention facility would provide a gift to terrorist organizations around the world as their most cunning leaders and hardened fighters would be allowed to return to the battlefield.

Politico reports:

President Barack Obama announced his official proposal to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay on Tuesday morning, leading off with a vigorous condemnation of the facility’s effect on U.S. national security.

“It undermines our standing in the world. It is viewed as a stain on our broader record of upholding the highest standards of rule of law,” Obama said while unveiling his plan. “As Americans, we pride ourselves on being a beacon to other nations, a model of the rule of law.”

Obama stressed that support for closing the facility was bipartisan when he first took office, noting that former President George W. Bush and his 2008 opponent, Senator John McCain, both wanted to do so. But he acknowledged that the “politics of this are tough,” even as he argued that concerns about the wisdom of allowing hardened terrorists on U.S. soil are overblown.

“I think a lot of the American people are worried about terrorism and, in their minds, the notion of having terrorists held in the United States instead of some distant place can be scary. But part of my message to the American people here is, we’re already holding a bunch of really dangerous terrorists in the United States because we threw the book at them,” Obama said. “And there have been no incidents. We’ve managed it just fine.”

The facility at Gitmo houses the worst of the worst captured in the War on Terror.

Before 9/11, the Clinton Administration treated terrorism as a law enforcement matter.

That failed strategy cost the lives of over 3,000 Americans when terrorists, using our own planes, brought down the World Trade Center towers and attacked the Pentagon on September 11, 2001.

Obama’s claim that closing Gitmo and releasing terrorists works out “fine” was blown up the very day he made this announcement.

One of the terrorists set free from Gitmo was arrested in Spain as part of a jihadist sect recruiting fighters to join ISIS.

The Associated Press reports:

Spanish and Moroccan police on Tuesday arrested four suspected members of a jihadi cell that sought to recruit fighters for the Islamic State group, including one described as a former Guantanamo detainee who once fought with militants in Afghanistan.

Three people were arrested in Spain’s North African enclave city of Ceuta while a Moroccan was arrested in the border town of Farkhana, next to Melilla, Spain’s other North African enclave, statements from the two nations’ interior ministries said.

One of those detained in Ceuta was a former Guantanamo detainee who was not named by Spanish authorities but described as “a leader who was trained in handling weapons, explosives and in military tactics.” After being captured in 2002 and held at Guantanamo, he was returned to Spain in 2004, said Interior Minister Jorge Fernandez Diaz.

Obama’s strategy is a danger to America.

But in his worldview, the real danger is our unjust and immoral foreign policy.

So America must humble herself and apologize.

And that starts with turning the terrorists of Gitmo loose on the world, no matter the risk to innocent civilians.
