Speaker Paul Ryan and Republican leadership are trying to pass Obamacare 2.0.
Conservatives are opposing the legislation.
In fact, even Nancy Pelosi made some surprising comments about the bill that conservatives agreed with.
During an interview on CNN, Pelosi was asked how Paul Ryan’s Obamacare 2.0 bill would affect Donald Trump’s political future.
She said that Republicans would pay a price in 2018 for supporting Obamacare 2.0.
Breitbart reports on the transcript of her remarks:
“COOPER: When you think about 2020, when you think about the next presidential race, how do you think Donald Trump is going to make it four years?
PELOSI: I don’t know. it’s up to him. It’s up to him if he obeys the law. I’m not thinking of 2020. I’m thinking of 2018. A matter of a year and a half from now. A little more than a year and a half from now, the referendum, the first referendum on Donald Trump will come forward. this vote they are asking their members to take is a terrible terrible vote for them. Even if the bill is changed in the Senate which the president is saying ‘Oh it will be changed, it will be changed.’ They are still accountable for the vote they took in the house. 24 million off of – a 600 billion dollar transfer of wealth. But more importantly than that is what does this mean to individuals? What does this mean to a person? If they are a senior and they have to pay an age tax, if they are a person with a disability, a person with an addiction, if they have a senior in their family who is dependent on Medicaid for long-term health care either at home or in a home, these votes have a definite impact on Americas working families. And people are paying attention to what it means to them.”
Conservatives wholeheartedly agree that Republicans will pay a political price for failing to deliver on their promise to repeal Obamacare 100%.
Republicans have promised for seven years to fully repeal Obamacare.
Now that they control all three branches of government, leadership is getting cold feet.
Ryan’s bill keeps Obamacare’s regulations and taxes in place.
If Republicans fail to live up to their pledge to fully repeal Obamacare, GOP voters will not be motivated to show up at the polls in 2018.
That would lead to a disastrous electoral performance which could also install Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House.
Democrats would then be able to control committees and launch endless witch-hunt investigations into Trump, tying his administration in knots.
It would also slam the brakes on Trump’s agendas to secure the border, cut taxes, crack down on illegal immigration, and put America first.
Paul Ryan’s Obamacare 2.0 legislation is a political disaster.
The consequences of passing a bill that keeps Obamacare in place would be catastrophic.
Insurance premiums would go up even more, and the GOP would have to fully own the debacle.
And since the Democrats won’t provide any vote for the bill, they can just step back and blast the GOP for failing to pass reforms that should have benefited everyday Americans.
Nancy Pelosi – for once in her life – was right. Paul Ryan’s Obamacare 2.0 bill is a disaster that the GOP will pay a price for supporting.
Do you think Paul Ryan’s scheme to keep Obamacare in place will doom the GOP?
