Nancy Pelosi just added to her growing list of controversies.

It’s not unusual for her to create a hullabaloo with her off the wall remarks.

But her latest comments were so shocking it even left her allies stunned.

Democrats are in the middle of a civil war.

The party is engaging in a circular firing squad as they work to rebuild from the 2016 wipeout.

And it’s centering on abortion.

Hillary Clinton articulated the party’s extremist position of killing babies up until the day they are born during the third Presidential debate.

Pundits credit Trump for hammering her remarks as a key turning point in the election.

And now a mayoral race in Omaha, Nebraska is ripping open this scab again.

National DNC chair Tom Perez and Bernie Sanders both endorsed the Democrat candidate in the mayoral race.

Activists howled in protest since the candidate had once supported a 20-week ban on abortions.

This led to Perez backtracking and declaring you can’t be a Democrat unless you are pro-abortion.

Nancy Pelosi was asked to respond and she gave a surprising answer.

Pelosi told the Washington Post that Democrats shouldn’t be forced to toe the party line on abortion.

The Post reports:

“The Democratic Party should not impose support for abortion rights as a litmus test on its candidates, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Tuesday, because it needs a broad and inclusive agenda to win back the socially conservative voters who helped elect President Trump.

“This is the Democratic Party. This is not a rubber-stamp party,” Pelosi said in an interview with Washington Post reporters.

“I grew up Nancy D’Alesandro, in Baltimore, Maryland; in Little Italy; in a very devout Catholic family; fiercely patriotic; proud of our town and heritage, and staunchly Democratic,” she added, referring to the fact that she is the daughter and sister of former mayors of that city. “Most of those people — my family, extended family — are not pro-choice. You think I’m kicking them out of the Democratic Party?”

Pelosi is one of the most radical supporters of abortion in America.

But even she realizes it is a minority position.

Will the Democrat base also come to this conclusion?

It’s hard to see how.

Pro-abortion special interests like Planned Parenthood call the shots in Democrat politics.

Abortion is so central to their mission that Planned Parenthood rejected a deal to split into two entities in order to keep their federal funding.

So the pro-abortion stalwarts in the Democrat Party are winning out in this raging civil war.

However, even Nancy Pelosi knows this will have disastrous consequences for the party.
