Trey Gowdy has turned into a target for the left.

He grilled former CIA Director John Brennan and forced him to admit he has no idea whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia.

So one MSNBC host attacked for him the most insane reason ever.

Former Florida Congressman Joe Scarborough is the co-host of Morning Joe.

The nominal Republican spends his mornings trashing Trump and his team.

After Brennan’s testimony, he launched a petty attack on Trey Gowdy’s appearance.

The Washington Free Beacon reports:

“MSNBC host Joe Scarborough took a moment Wednesday to mock Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy’s (S.C.) appearance during a House Intelligence Committee hearing, imploring him to wear makeup.

“Morning Joe” played footage of the South Carolina representative grilling ex-CIA chief John Brennan.

“First of all, Trey Gowdy, a couple pro-tips … If somebody could just get him some powder,” Scarborough snarked.

“Just a little powder, just put it across the top,” he continued. “The shine is unbelievable.”

“Secondly—and I speak, actually, for America. Because that’s all people notice, Trey, when you’re on TV,” Scarborough added.

Scarborough is one of the leading proponents of the – so-far – baseless conspiracy that the Trump campaign worked in tandem with the Russian government to steal the election from Hillary Clinton.

He regularly tweets attacks on the Trump administration and pushes the Russia story.

So it’s no surprise he blew up when Trey Gowdy punctured a hole in the “Trump colluded with Russia” narrative.

During his testimony, Brennan tried to play games and weasel his way around Gowdy’s questioning.

But Gowdy was having none of it.

Real Clear Politics reports on the exchange:

“Did evidence exist of collusion, coordination, conspiracy, between the Trump campaign and Russian state actors at the time you learned of 2016 efforts?

BRENNAN: I encountered and am aware of information and intelligence that revealed contacts and interactions between Russian officials and U.S. persons involved in the Trump campaign that I was concerned about because of known Russian efforts to suborn such individuals and it raised questions in my mind, again, whether or not the Russians were able to gain the cooperation of those individuals.

I don’t know whether or not such collusion — and that’s your term, such collusion existed. I don’t know. But I know that there was a sufficient basis of information and intelligence that required further investigation by the bureau to determine whether or not U.S. persons were actively conspiring, colluding with Russian officials.”

Gowdy exposed Brennan for holding no real cards on the Russia story.

And since Scarborough couldn’t attack the substance of Gowdy’s questioning or defend Brennan’s response, he opted for a petty personal attack.
