2016 was a kick in the teeth for the globalists and the new world order they had established.
What will 2017 bring as nationalist populism rises around the globe?
Joe Biden issued a dire prediction to a room full of global elites.
After the Brexit vote and election of Donald Trump, international elites are panicking that the liberal world order they established after World War II may be on the verge of collapse.
There may be more referendums to leave the European Union (EU).
Populists could make major gains – or even outright win – the elections in France and Germany.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s re-election is viewed as pivotal because it was her decision to open her borders to over one million Middle Eastern migrants in 2015 that lit the fuse that inspired Brexit and the populist revolt of 2016.
At Davos – the headquarters for the globalist elite – Joe Biden delivered his final speech.
And he warned about the collapse of the liberal international order.
Vice President Joe Biden delivered an epic final speech Wednesday to the elites at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
The gist of his speech was simple: At a time of “uncertainty” we must double down on the values that made Western democracies great, and not allow the “liberal world order” to be torn apart by destructive forces.
Biden went after Russian President Vladimir Putin by name, saying he is using “every tool” in his power to whittle away the European project, and undermine Western democracies. Biden accused Putin of wanting to “roll back decades of progress.”
Biden said Russia used “cyber aggression” to meddle in the U.S. election, an assertion supported by 17 U.S. intelligence agencies. He also warned that we will see further interference from Russia in the future and said the “purpose is clear” — that Putin wants to see a “collapse of the international order.”
“Simply put, Putin has a different vision of the future,” the Vice President warned.
Biden also claimed the world order is under threat from income inequality, but neglected to explain the role the globalist agenda of open borders and international trade deals have depressed wages, shipped jobs out of Western countries and hollowed out the middle class.
NBC also reports:
Biden didn’t merely urge the world leaders at Davos to maintain the status quo. He warned that the reason for the pressure on the democratic order is the rise in income inequality and the hollowing out of the middle class, as the rich get richer and people in developing nations see their lives gradually improve.
He said the top 1 percent is not paying their fair share, and as a result we are seeing social instability increase.
“We need to tap into the big heartedness,” Biden said. “This is a moment to lead boldly.”
Biden and the rest of the elites who huddle at Davos were horrified by Trump’s “America First” agenda.
Trump’s agenda calls for securing our border, a more restrained foreign policy and ending multilateral trade deals that benefited the global community at the expense of American workers.
His rise – coupled with the United Kingdom’s vote to leave the EU – delivered a message that regular folks were fed up with the status quo as established by international elites.
The elections in 2016 were just a body blow that staggered the globalists.
Joe Biden was warning that 2017 could be the final knockout punch.
