Donald Trump campaigned on being a jobs President.
He made repealing Barack Obama’s economy-strangling “climate change” regulations a centerpiece of his campaign platform.
And he just made good on his promise by signing an executive order rolling back Obama’s climate agenda.
At the end of his term, Obama made fighting so-called “man made global warming” a focal point of his administration.
He claimed human beings were causing climate change, so he instituted a series of policies and regulations.
Conservatives argued this amounted to a war on coal.
But Trump said during the campaign that Obama exaggerated the threat of so-called “man made global warming” and promised to put the coal miners back to work.
And Trump kept his promise by signing an executive order dismantling Obama’s climate agenda and promoting energy independence.
“President Donald Trump ordered his administration to begin dismantling his predecessor’s climate change policies on Tuesday with a sweeping directive to end what he called a “crushing attack” on the U.S. economy — by halting efforts to reduce the carbon pollution of electric utilities, oil and gas drillers and coal miners.
The executive order Trump signed represents his biggest blow yet to former President Barack Obama’s climate legacy. But it does not go as far as some conservatives would like to dismantle the EPA’s authority to regulate greenhouse gases, nor will it begin to separate the U.S. from a landmark international climate accord — two areas of intense disagreement within the administration.
“My administration is putting an end to the war on coal,” Trump told an audience at the EPA headquarters signing, where he was joined by a group of coal miners whom he promised would be put back to work quickly.
“We’re going to have clean coal. Really clean coal,” Trump added. “Together we will create millions of good American jobs, also so many energy jobs, and really lead to unbelievable prosperity.”
Democrats were outraged.
They believe so-called “man made global warming” is the greatest threat we face.
Trump would routinely mock Obama for saying so-called “man made global warming” was our greatest national security threat.
But liberals worship “man made global warming” at the altar of radical environmentalism.
Under the guise of “saving the planet”, liberals use global warming as an excuse to raise taxes, impose regulations, restrict economic growth, and involve the government in every aspect of American’s lives.
Trump’s executive order ends the punishing Obama regulations that imposed nearly insurmountable obstacles to building coal-fired power plants.
And his order allows for new coal mines on federal lands.
Trump also ordered agencies to end regulations and cease all Obama-era initiatives to reduce the federal government’s role in punishing energy production.
“Additionally, the president’s “energy independence” executive order also repeals several Obama-era environmental directives aimed at reducing the federal government’s own carbon footprint, and it directs agencies to ferret out any additional policies that “result in impediments” to U.S. energy production, a likely reference to restrictions on fracking and offshore drilling. The president also told federal regulators to stop using the “social cost of carbon,” which attempts to quantify the effects of climate change, in economic analyses of future rules.”
