The Deep State has been plaguing the Trump administration.
Entrenched bureaucrats thought they could leak damaging stories and work to undermine the Trump Presidency.
But they have just been put on notice – and some are worried their days are now numbered.
Conservative media outlets have worked tirelessly to shine a bright light on the Obama loyalists and career bureaucrats who have fought the Trump administration at every turn.
This includes leaks of classified intelligence, rogue twitter accounts, refusing to do their jobs, and helping journalists spin stories to attack Trump.
But these members of the Deep State have become fearful since now their work has been exposed and their careers are in jeopardy.
“Conservative news outlets, including one with links to a top White House official, are singling out individual career government employees for criticism, suggesting in articles that certain staffers will not be sufficiently loyal to President Donald Trump by virtue of their work under former President Barack Obama.
The articles — which have appeared in Breitbart News, the Conservative Review, and other outlets — have alarmed veteran officials in both parties as well as current executive branch staffers. They say the stories are adding to tensions between career staffers and political appointees as they begin to implement Trump’s agenda, and they worry that the stories could inspire Trump to try purging federal agencies of perceived enemies.
The claims posted on the conservative sites include allegations of anti-Israel and pro-Iran bias against staffers at institutions such as the State Department and the National Security Council. Breitbart News, whose former executive chairman Steve Bannon is now Trump’s chief strategist, has even published lists of workers that the president should fire.”
Trump has every right to expect the bureaucracy beneath him to act in accordance with his administration’s policies.
And it is the job of the media to hold the government accountable.
If the bureaucrats are working to sabotage Trump, it should be made public.
In fact, because conservative media outlets have been holding the deep state accountable, it has helped to keep possible enemies out of the Trump administration.
For example, Secretary of Defense James Mattis wanted to hire Obama’s former Ambassador of Egypt, Anne Patterson, as his deputy.
But Conservative Review reported that while serving as Ambassador of Egypt, Patterson had lobbied for closer ties to the terrorist-connected Muslim Brotherhood.
Patterson was also the Ambassador who released a statement apologizing for the YouTube video which the Obama administration falsely claimed as the cause of the terrorist attacks in Egypt and Benghazi on September 11, 2012.
Politico also reported that deep state members were disturbed by a Breitbart article that listed eight staffers in the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services who should be fired.
“Sources tell Breitbart News that the Department of Homeland Security, and in particular U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services [USCIS], is a hotbed of career open borders ideologues, many of whom intend to directly and indirectly subvert President Trump’s agenda.”
After Donald Trump issued his first travel ban executive order, the acting Director of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services circulated a memo countermanding portions of the order, stopping the processing of documents for refugees.
The Intercept reported:
“LESS THAN ONE week after senior leadership at the Department of Homeland Security issued a policy guidance that threatened to bring much of the government’s asylum and refugee work to a grinding halt, a new directive issued to employees appears to reverse key elements of the procedures U.S. immigration officials are expected to follow… According to an internal memo issued Thursday by Lori Scialabba, the acting director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the portion of Trump’s controversial ban pertaining to the issuance of visas and other benefits to immigrants from the targeted countries “does not affect USCIS adjudication of applications and petitions filed for or on behalf of individuals in the United States regardless of their country or nationality.”
The new memo, obtained by The Intercept, stands in direct contradiction to the earlier DHS guidance, which effectively blocked U.S. immigration officials from issuing decisions in any adjustment of status cases for nationals of the banned countries — including applications for permanent residency and naturalization by individuals already in the United States.”
Rogue bureaucrats should be made public.
America has the right to know that unelected members of the government are working against the wishes of the people’s duly elected officials.
And the Deep State has the right to be singled out and held accountable.
